NFT: Anyway to get surcharge wiped off a ticket?

ajr2456 : 11/24/2017 12:28 pm
Got a traffic ticket, first one.

$77 fine
$55 admin fees
$88 surcharge

The fact that the surcharge is more than the fine is absurd.

Live in Suffolk county
Representatives who collect funds in that manner
Overseer : 11/24/2017 12:54 pm : link
are failures as public servants. I mean that literally. They are complete professional failures and likely rather worthless as people as well.

If you have to raise taxes (income, property, etc) fine. If you have to cut certain services, fine. That's legitimate if it's well-reasoned.

Tracking on admin fees and "surcharge" fees to routine vehicle violations is nothing more than backdoor pickpocketing by cowards who are unwilling to make difficult choice because, again, they are professional failures.

You're probably fucked man. Hiring a lawyer is to expensive. Might be able to go to the hearing and hope the cop doesn't show. But I'm not precisely how it works in Suffolk.

Here is a novel idea... If you do not want to pay surcharges on tickets; then do not speed. That would save you 100% of the cost.

And Cops and Court employees do not set ticket costs and fees. Its your elected officials that do that. They just do their jobs. And a person who puts them down for doing their jobs and trying to support their families is just a scumbag.

It was for rolling slowly through a stop sign with nobody coming the other directions. Illegal sure, but the fees being more than the fine is stupid no matter the crime. Especially when taxes are already insane.
I'm pretty sure he did blame it on the elected representatives.
Here is and article on the surcharges

I'm aware of where it goes, and not even saying there shouldnt be one. It being more than the fine is the absurd part. At least make it preportianal

Where did I reference "cops and court employees"? The first word of my post was "representatives" (aka Elected officials). That's who I'm impugning, and unapologetically. They are dreadful, pickpocketing cowards who evade hard choices in favor of backdoor taxation.

Your reading comprehension appears to be sub-standard so let me know if you need anything further elucidated.

Superspy has always been supe4 stupid
I thought you meant the politicians
njm : 11/24/2017 2:39 pm : link
Same folks who require a fire inspection of my office which takes 30 seconds and costs $50. Same folks who jack up the price of parking tickets (not my problem as I have on site parking) which is the only way they can justify hiring two parking authority employees and their Ford 150 (talk about a situation crying for a Prius) to drive around and write tickets. Same folks who cave on retirement health and pension benefits in negotiations with public employees because they'll be dead or retired when the bill comes due.

Those are the ones, right?

After reading this post for some reason I thought of Damon Wayans in an Oswald Bates skit. That said, I completely agree with you philosofication.
