NC State's Dave Doeren has told UT, "Nah, I'm good."
With Doeren staying at N.C. State, Tennessee is expected to turn its attention toward former Texas A& M coach Kevin Sumlin for its vacant position, ESPN reported. Sumlin was fired on Sunday after six seasons with the Aggies.
The Volunteers have pursued Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy and Purdue's Jeff Brohm this week. Those talks began after the Volunteers backed out of the hiring agreement with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano before that deal fell through following a public backlash and campus protests on Sunday. |
They had also tried to talk to Jon Gruden. So that's at least four guys who have turned them down. I don't know that I've ever seen anything quite like this. They're going to end up hiring a high school coach or something.

Being a fan of VT, I am enjoying this, and I am sure you are too Greg!
I have my suspicions. And they're not good.
I'm not posting it here because it's huge, but the link is below

If that were it, though, why would they be after Sumlin?
Yup. Thanks

Doesn't mean it's still not a consideration there.
They want a big splashy hire with a big name.

Dave Doeren?????? If I was Kevin Sumlin I wouldn't go anywhere near that place.
"Dumpster fire" doesn't begin to cover it.
