Landon Collins played through a high ankle sprain

not trying to rekindle debates among the amateur BBI doctors again, about what is a high ankle sprain and what it means to the player, but thought this was interesting.

.....

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo admitted Thursday that Collins, among the leagueís best defensive players last year, was slowed for much of this season by a high ankle sprain.

The only time Collins has been on the teamís injury list this season was Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, when he was questionable with an ankle injury. He sprained the ankle during the Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Odell Beckham Jr. suffered a high ankle sprain in the Giantsí second preseason game and was never completely healthy before suffering a season-ending ankle fracture Week 5. Olivier Vernon has missed four games and played only portions of two others this season due to a high ankle sprain......

Collins - played through HAS - ( New Window )
I guess

they were trying to be the first 0-5 team to make the playoffs, or 1-8 team...smh.

other than a contract bonus provision for #games played that maybe LS argued for, a rest/further exam/shut down of your key, young, tough, downlow S would have been a wiser handling...but then again, given recent events...not a surprise.

and you donít just stop playing at 0-5. Collins playing is the right move, itís not like it was a back injury. High Ankle Sprains hurt like hell but they arenít career killers. Canít just sit everyone with a tummy ache.

agree, the point wasn't should be play or not, but could he.

He's got to be pretty tough to gut it out.
Yeah...
Dnew15 : 11/30/2017 4:45 pm : link
but he should stop playing at 2-9. He's a warrior, he's a baller...he should not play another down this season - it's a waist.
Ha!

Reminder for all of us:

We don't know what's going on with these guys. We think we do. The NFL and the teams encourage that notion with "injury reports." But later those reports turn out to be disinformation.

We flame guys on game threads, talk about guys who "quit, but We. Do. Not. Know. What's. Going. On.

Agree. My initial post was in response to Old Man's.
on top of everything else that turned to shit this year

It sure didn't take long for their miraculous good health of 2016 to turn into the usual Giants' injury festival.
Antonio Pierce missed a playoff game due to a high ankle sprain

It's not a tummy ache. That he was able to do anything playing with that is very much a credit to him, and it's not some standard that should be applied to everyone.

And yet another reason for folks on the couch to feel like idiots when they ramble on why a player sucks.
Also, this was reported after the Denver game.

I don't know why it wasn't more talked about here, but Collins had zero tackles in the Denver game and then admitted he was playing hurt and they game planned around keeping him on the field but away from the action.
