Are you rooting for Geno this weekend?

csb : 12/1/2017 9:19 am
I'm pretty conflicted here. Geno has done nothing during his Giants days which would prevent me from rooting for him. He appears to have been a model teammate this year who has worked very hard.

With that said I also am rooting to see Mac have egg on his face on Sunday after this whole fiasco. If Geno plays great ball then it will almost vindicate him in how he's treated Eli since he's become head coach.

I wish Geno the best because he's worked hard for a second chance; but I want Mac to go down in flames. Not sure I'll have my mind made up on Sunday but I'm conflicted to say the least.

Absolutely. I'm a Giants. Why wouldn't I?
Blue21 : 12/1/2017 9:33 am : link
I feel bad for Eli and I'm sure that's what this is about but again I'm a Giants fan no matter who's under center.
No
JonC : 12/1/2017 9:33 am : link
I want the highest pick possible and a shot at Darnold.
Of Course!
Sebastian : 12/1/2017 9:34 am : link
He's a member of our team and and I want to see the Giants win ballgames. He's done nothing to make me lose respect for him. Sure his track record hasn't been great, but he was never really put in a situation where he could thrive (not that this one is either).

I'm semi-excited to see what a mobile quarterback can do behind this line. Maybe he will extend some drives, limit his mistakes, which in turn will keep the defense off the field. Not expecting anything, but I will tune in nonetheless to root for my team. Giants pride win or lose.
I understand all of these sentiments
Keaton028 : 12/1/2017 9:37 am : link
And agree with them. I just kinda feel for Geno here. He's put in a bad spot where his own team's fans aren't going to back him. But still, a loss to Oakland is a net positive for the future of the Giants
Nothing against Geno
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 12/1/2017 9:38 am : link
But would be happy if he is sacked 4+ times and throws 2-3 picks. I want McAdoo humiliated and coaching high school in 2019.
I want the Giants to lose a close game and for Webb to come in and

show that he has a bright future. I root for the Giants, not Eli
Going to the Game
Jeffrey : 12/1/2017 9:40 am : link
Planned for six months to take my sons. Planning to root like hell for the Giants and whomever they have on the field. Hoping for a win.

Still cannot understand the emotional crazy reaction against Geno. Last I checked backup QBs do not decide to bench players. Eli's situation was never going to end well--it did not have to be this bad for certain, but it was going to end, like Phil Simms and every other good/great QB who served a team well and got old.

Nothing against Geno
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 12/1/2017 9:45 am : link
But I hope we get lit up.

Nobody is reacting against Geno. It has about zero to do with Geno.
No & it has nothing to do w/Geno
TheMick7 : 12/1/2017 9:49 am : link
It's more about the robotic dick HC now thinking he will "ride the hot hand" & not give Webb the reps!A month from today,we'll all be the happiest we've been all season as we say "Bye-Bye Ben & Jerry"!
Not rooting against Geno
Chef : 12/1/2017 9:51 am : link
but I hope the get throttled and embarrass themselves as much as they have embarrassed the fans. For the first time I cant even wear my Giant gear.

arcarsenal : 12/1/2017 9:54 am : link
I'm going to watch out of curiosity and I am going to pull for him. I guess I'm one of the only ones, and that's fine.

But I look at he and Eli as entirely separate entities - nothing that happened with Eli had anything to do with him.

I understand that him playing well would only reinforce a decision that most of us were very upset with, but nothing I think during the game is going to change the outcome so I'll be happy for him if he plays well even though I'm still going to be annoyed about how Eli was handled.

+1

35-0 at halftime with 3 pick 6s.

I am rooting for the Giants to not only lose, but to get embarrassed. Thank you Messrs. Mara, Reese and McAdoo for turning the Giants into such a sh*tshow that I have to root for them to be embarrassed so that in the long term it ensures McAdoo and Reese are gone and that there is an outside chance that Eli starts more games for the Giants.

Unreal.

I'm rooting for Garoppolo.
Diver_Down : 12/1/2017 9:57 am : link
This team? Just lose out. I have no ill will towards Geno. But I don't understand people wanting to see him well. It's like wanting to vindicate Ben and string together wins so that we pick 6th. It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

I guess we have been reading different posts then because I have seen him trashed repeatedly and also read several posts from people who state they are rooting for him to fail , get sacked, get knocked out of the game and on and on. Perhpas their motive is to somehow strike out against the management, but that sure as hell is not what they are saying.
I feel..
FatMan in Charlotte : 12/1/2017 9:58 am : link
bad for Geno because he ended up getting caught up in this mess because of the way it was grossly mishandled.

But with this current group of coaches, the GM and a fair amount of the players, right now, I'm probably a bigger eli fan - as he's one of the few to exhibit class.

Heck, even in the 70's, the players were likeable even if they weren't that good. I could watch Van Pelt, Mendenhall, Jeter and others all day long even if a loss was assured.

I have a difficult time watching Apple, JPP and most of the defense, and with the shitshow the offense is - that's horrific too.
I root for the Giants
section125 : 12/1/2017 9:58 am : link
and support/enjoy watching certain players. I probably won't watch because I doubt it is shown down here, but if I did watch, of course I would root for Geno just like I rooted for Gary Wood, Kent Graham, Dave Brown, Earl Morrall,....
I'm not sure I'll watch,
Section331 : 12/1/2017 9:59 am : link
but this is not Geno's fault. He's in a bad spot, he didn't ask for this, so I don't see why anyone would root against him.
I'm rooting against McAdoo

It's a weird scenario for all of us. I think we're all struggling with whether we still actually just "root for the laundry" or if we care about a player like Eli more than that (and I think it's safe to say a lot of us do - I know I care more about Eli than the current state of the team at this particular point)

A guy like Eli Apple is very hard to root for and there are a few others too.

Ultimately, it's in our best long-term interest for the Giants to just lose the game so we can get rid of McAdoo and turn the page. But I won't root against Geno or hope he has a miserable day. I'd like to see him play reasonably well even if we still ultimately lose the game (which I have no doubt we will)
I have never in my 60 years wanted the Giants to lose ... until now.
Spider56 : 12/1/2017 10:05 am : link
I'm firmly in the I hope they get thoroughly embarrassed camp.
Uncharted fan territory for me
rocco8112 : 12/1/2017 10:12 am : link
It is best for the Giants to lose all their games. I want badly for the team to fail this week so McAdoo, Reese and ownership can hear endless boos next week at home. A true cursing this weekend may even lead to McAdoo's dismissal, which I would love. I know this is childish, but I can't lie, it will make me happy.

This means I should root for the Giants to lose. I do not know if I can though, so I likely will not watch. I could care less about Geno specifically.
I do
joeinpa : 12/1/2017 10:24 am : link
Want Giants to lose, it s in their best long term interest.

How do you want that and root for them to play well.

I think we do root for the laundry mostly. I just think that there's also an adjustment period when you think you're rooting for a tuxedo and it turns out to be a pimp's outfit.

No. This season has been awful & I want a top 2 pick to show for it.
Of course
Thegratefulhead : 12/1/2017 10:43 am : link
I will be forever a Giant's fan. I know this wasn't a great week for Eli but they have paid him 185 million since joined the team. There might be one or 2 players in the entire that have made more since he was drafted. I am not feeling like asking him to let them them take a look at the future in a lost season, no pay cut, no release is not the end of the world everyone else is getting their panties so bunched over....185 million fucking dollars...You give me a 185 million dollars, then ask me to hold a clipboard while paying me a million per week to chill...I ain't gonna cry, tell you that.
Im watching

but for the sake of getting McAdoo fired ASAP I hope they get their doors blown off by a very very average Raiders team.
I have nothing against Geno
gmen9892 : 12/1/2017 10:45 am : link
But I am rooting for this system to be exposed by another QB, just to further prove that nobody can succeed in its current state. I want the egg on McAdoo's face, more than wanting Geno to fail.

9 hours Saturday watching great (Hopefully) college football.

Why would I waste 3 watching Geno and the Dreck play?
it's a tough call
Csonka : 12/1/2017 11:35 am : link
I want McAdoo gone so bad. And I want him to be wrong.

Geno isn't going to cover up the problems we have. We have a bunch of WRs running 4.6 40's. Our line can't give a QB 3 seconds to find someone and can't create a hole to run though. Joe Montana couldn't cover up these problems.

but I won't root against Geno. This isn't his fault.
I always root for big blue.

I won't be watching either
Bill L : 12/1/2017 11:54 am : link
but in the abstract, I will be rooting for Geno not to get injured. For his own sake obviously but also because it would be the worst possible thing to happen to Eli and, I believe, the team if Eli had to come in as Geno's back-up. I really wish they made him inactive.
Same as pretty much everyone here.
Crispino : 12/1/2017 11:57 am : link
I won’t watch, and I’m actively rooting against the coach, GM, the owners, and the players who have quit on the team. I hope no one gets hurt, but I hope the lose....badly. As for Geno, I have no ill will towards him. Not his fault. But I hope he doesn’t succeed, for the obvious reasons. Nothing good will come from Geno or the team succeeding.

I get rooting for the laundry or rooting for this "great" organization, but right now this organization is a shitshow and the laundry isn't even that great. Next week is the game with the throwback helmets though right? Maybe I'll root for the helmets next week..

and Eli doesn't have to go into the game. It wouldn't break my heart if Smith stinks and McAdoo's "plan" to make him successful blows up. Won't watch Sunday. Not sure going forward but will probably watch Dallas game to see/hear fan reaction.
If it is Eli’s fault that is a huge positive
Vanzetti : 12/1/2017 1:06 pm : link
That means Giants can easily correct the offense with a new QB and compete for a championship in the near future

Unfortunately most of us think the problems on offense run a lot deeper and expect the offense to co tongue to struggle with Geno and Webb

But every intelligent Giants fan hopes that Eli was the problem, even though reason might tell them otherwise. Because if Eli is the problem, then it can be fixed
I won't be watching.
Red Dog : 12/1/2017 1:07 pm : link
No bad feelings towards Gino, but I am on board with the 60 to nothing loss idea. Maybe that will finally get McAdouche canned on Monday.

I don't see how he's going to be successful. As bad as OAK's D is (they have one INT all year - ONE!, and that was last week v. Paxton Lynch. Oof), Khalil Mack will be living in the backfield all day. And we know how well Geno responds to pressure!
This is purely a business decision...
bw in dc : 12/1/2017 1:20 pm : link
for the future. It is vital that we continue to lose.

These next five weeks are simply showcase events. Maybe root for players to do well, but not well enough where it leads to points.

Geno should be auditioning for other teams and Webb should be auditioning to keep a spot at Jints Central...
It's all about getting

Rid of macdoo and Jerry Reese.

Love to see a W ..but would John Mara really be dull enough to think that beating an awful D in Oakland would prove macadoos system? Let's pray not.

Next season-

If we get new GM. New HC. Assuming Manning to Jags garnering picks.. Build the holy bejesus of the lines. Grab an all world rb,lbs.

Would it bother me to see Geno get a chance in a deal like that? Not really.
I want them
tony71 : 12/1/2017 2:19 pm : link
To lose. First time ever. But if they win , McAdoo wins. For two seasons McAdoo has been shoving his play calling down our throats. For two year they been barely able to score 30 points. He constantly threw Eli under the bus to me seemed like he believe me it was the QB not his System. screw McAdoo , Screw his system. I hope the team loses just to put the last nail in his coffin. I just hope he isn’t fired until after he season so he can see what the giants fans really think about him.
I always root for the Giants, except
