for McAdoo? From John Mara's interview on Weds:
Q: Is Ben McAdoo’s job considered secure for the rest of the year? Have you guaranteed that to him?
A: There’s no guarantees in life. (We) made (our) statement on that a couple of weeks ago, but there’s no guarantees in life.
He clearly left the door wide open to fire Mac.
One would have thought the loss to SF would have been enough.
The Eli debacle should have been enough.
The rams game...
Further, a new guy- even if he just gets the interim tag- is going to go all out to win games. Right now, it is in the teams best long term interest to lose games and get the high pick.
Really, do you really want to finish 4-10 or 5-11 and get a pick around 9-14? How does that improve next year's team?
It is clear that many vets will be let go this winter, which makes the draft next year so much more important. You need a premium high pick to get a top talent.
A high pick also makes the round 2 pick MUCH more valuable. When teams assess the board after day 1, some falling guys might make some team desperate enough to trade some excellent picks for a top 3 pick on day 2.
Look, McAdoo isn't going to inspire this team to win games for him- that ship sailed a LONG time ago. He knows he is a "dead man walking" as far as his job prospects go. Let the team tailspin for the next 5 games, fire him then, and begin the rebuild.
There really is nothing about this team which says they can win games going forward. I don't think they really have to try to lose to lose. (Which isn't to say that they aren't planning on trying to lose anyway...heck, if they perform per their norm, they'll probably go full bore on the tanking and end up winning out).
If he is fired then the question is does whoever takes over reinstate Eli as the starter or does he tow the party line and "see" what we have in the other QBs?
Just a little fun to speculate as we have nothing else to root for at the moment.
Fire his ass now. As in RIGHT FUCKING NOW.
Put Spagnolo in as interim HC with a directive on what to do at QB. He's got HC experience, and he knows what the deal is going forward. Direct him to have Mike Sullivan prepare Webb to get in some of the remaining games, which is what McAdouche SHOULD HAVE DONE after the September disaster.
That way the GIANTS can salvage something from the last four games by at least getting a look at Webb.
I would think at some point Mara would want to regain the respect of the fans, former players, and likely current players by letting these guys walk.
All you need to do is step back and look at the last 5 years. This team is broken in so many ways and we are more than just a couple of players away.
Yeah, I want to hear "Good-Bye Bennie" shake down the rafters.

v. Dallas. The backlash is going to be brutal, and I want him to experience it.

Think all the Cowboy fans will do it?

Yeah baby!!!
Maybe even get the 'Boys fans ... who will likely outnumber Giants fans...to join in.

You fire him because he is an asshole and a shit coach. That's what you do when your employees are garbage and are making your company look like shit, you get rid of them immediately.

Because he is an asshole. When you have employees that are terrible at their job while making your company look like shit you get rid of them immediately. Who cares who runs the team for the remainder of waste this year is?
Keep McAdoo in there till the bitter end, let him squirm. Who cares if we lose by 1or 30 I’m good, just lose , I want as high a pick as possible , 7-9 will do us no good, why settle for mediocrity when you can be truly terrible, not Browns terrible, but they can get close.
Need a last straw so we can go on to the FINAL STRAW
YES!!
Just the statement that he had no regrets should have been sufficient for John Mara to fire him regardless of Sunday's outcome. (Add that to the fact that Webb STILL hasn't gotten any reps.)
Win or lose, McAdoo did the planning and thus "owns" the Oakland game. Midweek transition to Spags or Sully wouldn't make sense.
On the other hand, it is important that NYG management send a signal on Monday that what happened this week was an aberration. (If I were Mara, I'd do a "Mea Culpa" in the firing announcement.)
As we have seen this season, no conclusions can be drawn from a single game (e.g. Denver or KC). The evidence on McAdoo is already in.
This
Mac will be booed out of the stadium
