Team backing Eli?

fkap : 12/2/2017 7:35 am
Perhaps I've missed it, with the media and fans out for blood regarding the handling of the situation, but I'm left with a sense that the players haven't exactly jumped to Eli's defense. Kind of odd, since Eli's been the franchise QB for over a decade and this should be his team.

a wrong read on my part? malaise on the team? Under reported/commented on because folks would rather bitch about McAdoo?
what can they say?

most said they were shocked....which implies support
Players are in a shitty situation

it’s part of football and they need to deal with it. They have a job to do and also want their job beyond this year. I’m sure most of the team thinks it’s ridiculous.
If Giants fall behind several scores in first half, you will likely

see more of the same.

If we are in games going into second half, you will probably see a better effort.

unfortunately that is the mantra...
JPP sounded livid to me in his press conference

I may have been reading his tone wrong, but take a look at the transcript and see if you agree.
For any member of this putrid team

to say anything about how this season is being coached is an abomination . These hapless bums should inwardly direct their interests so they might offer scant evidence as to why they should be in the league next season .

I thought about this last night. The only two players who can hold their heads up and look management in the eye are Jones and Tomlinson . Everybody else shares blame. Everybody else on this team has , at times, been a total fucking disgrace . Some more frequently than others. Some like Flowers, determined to improve yet failing . Attitude good, performance often not .

And here is JPP, who was blocked the entire Tampa Bay game by tight ends. And he has some sort of platform? Unreal .

I sensed this as well.

Look, this team is a shit show. Most everyone is thinking about their own employment, they have to choose their word and reactions very carefully. In their minds, Eli has been paid and has a strong history with the Giants and NFL history and if they part with Eli, he will get a new gig. Most of the locker room is wondering if they have a job next year.
Milenials

Amirite?
I had the same initial thought
Matt M. : 12/2/2017 10:35 am : link
But, you can see that the players interviewed all seemed reluctant to talk about this, which is understandable. They are all still employed by the Giants, playing for the same coach. They have to protect their futures. In reading between the lines of even the n-comments, the players seem to be confused to outright not in favor of this move. But, they can't explicitly say that.
I think the team is in disarray, and the players don't know what to sa
PatersonPlank : 12/2/2017 10:39 am : link
so they go back to the PC responses. This kind of crap has been happening a lot to them; Eli, Eli Apple, Jackrabbit, etc.

After a while they check out on it.
You guys overestimate
joeinpa : 12/2/2017 10:44 am : link
How players react to these things. They are concerned about their own performance and job security.

During Eli s press conference. Did that sound like a locker room that was upset about the situation.
This is not a huge deal

The Giants are not in contention for anything. So whats the point of not evaluating the most important position on the team.

Letting Eli play every snap until the end of the season and not knowing if Webb or Geno have the tools would be reckless. If Webb and Geno prove they can't do any better the Giants will draft a QB and Eli will play until his contract is up or the rookie outplays him. This actually makes the rest of the season watchable.

Even though it's not current....

"team", I'd say the report of 25 Giants legends showing up on the sideline next week wearing Eli jerseys shows support.
Players are going to have to tread carefully
Section331 : 12/4/2017 10:31 am : link
when anything they say to support Eli could be looked at as criticizing their coach. Justin Pugh mentioned dismay at seeing Eli running the scout team, and some people got on him for sounding critical of McAdon't.

Yup

Amid an ESPN report that Ben McAdoo is about to be fired, Glazer also reported that the Giants sent a confidential email to all employees asking them “not to comment about (the) Eli situation” (because) of outside ramifications.”
