thèse 2 will be hired in those roles. It’s the Mara way to hire people who are familiar and have worked for you. Since 1960 team has had 11 coaches and only 3 had never worked for team previously. The only GM who hadn’t worked for team was the Rozelle forced hiring of Young. Maras operate like a small business and not a billion dollar operation in a highly competitive environment.
does not deserve to be the HC, even on an interim basis. The defense has shown pathetic effort in most games this year, that's on him.
I am ok with him finishing out the season but no way to I want him here next year. The guy was a complete disaster in St Louis and was a mini "McAdoo" as it relates to the crap in the locker room and organization. He even fired the equipment manager who was with the team for decades because the guy had a good connection to the players....and that was a threat to him.

Almost no chance Spags gets retained but there's no worse than a 50/50 chance that Abrams is GM and it's almost a certainty Abrams will go back to his previous role in the organization, which is OK (Abrams was very good at his role)
One would think. This is why I would now go straight to Davis Webb the rest of way. I would do my best to convince Eli that he is the QB for next year, so he stays on to mentor Webb and/or their pick. Now, pray to SF to win a game or two.
I don't think you tell Eli any such thing. It should be up to the new regime what they want to do with Eli and the QB situation. Ownership has meddled enough as it is. As of now, Eli is under contract for 2 more years, if they want to keep him, there is little he can do about it.
That said, it may be in their best interest to make Eli a June 1 cut, and bring in a cheap vet to take the reins for a year. As much as I love Eli, they have to do what is best for the organization, not what is best for Eli.
Doesn't matter if you pick 1st or 10th unless you (a) have both genius and luck on your side when you pick high, or (b) are willing trade that high pick down for more picks so that you can have more players to compete in camp
should have been promoted over McAdoo last year. He earned it. McAdoo didn't. I wonder how things would have been different. Either way I am very happy to see Spags be listed as a New York Giant head coach.

Then they might as well have kept McAdoo and Reese.
Until Cowher's team finally won the SB (in about his 14th season), which was largely thanks to Labeau's defense, not to mention some shitty calls by the refs, Cowher had a losing playoff record. Yes, he got them there quite a few times, but overall not that impressive.
Mike Tomlin actually has a more impressive record.

This. Cowher lost at HOME to the JETS fercrissakes!
I don't mind Abrams stayoing as capologist. Just don't let him Â
have an opportunity to interview for the HC position, but there's no way he gets it. As much as the organization loves him, more often than not, any unit he is involved with is the worst in the league.
audition for his next job. If he is able to show any improvement in the team's play, or even prevent it from going further into the crapper, he may just have a shot at HC, or at least some possibility of being retained if they hire a HC with mainly a background in the offense.

Exactly.
He would likely have to do something extraordinary—like winning all the remaining games—to be retained as HC next season. But you want as many candidates as possible for HC
Two Coughlin-ites running the show again in Spags and Sully, ironic huh.
This is interesting indeed.
Why? Have you seen his record? Are you aware they are bottom 3rd of the league in every category? That he has 3 of the worst defenses of all time on his resume'? Flopped as a HC? Has issues displining his players? Why the hell would you "root" for Spags?
This is a HOUSE CLEANING. Spags and everyone else needs to go. Even Cockroach Quinn won't survive this on.
Good

Enjoy these couple of weeks.
I just clicked on a few minutes ago Music to my ears I wasn't gonna watch this weeks game with the Raiders but former classmate and good friend next door neighbor invited
me over to watch the game . I am glad I did and this absolutely had to happen . I agree with most here about
Spags going forward I hope its only temporary and hopefully
a new coach will be found and maybe he will retain Spags best case scenario IMO .

Aside from the factual 3 worst defenses, some of which were because Rob Ryan ruined the Saints, how do you know about discipline issues?
Also, most 1st time coaches flop.
I also don't disagree about needing to clean house completely..

Think he is a top, hard working FB guy and learned a lot these last years. Needs a strong GM who will back him up and offer counsel . The next Belichek maybe ? He deserves another shot if he wants it, but keep him as DC forever.

the next HC. But if this team could ever score more than 20 points a game, let's say average 24 points a game nobody would be criticizing his defense. Of course if they did that Macadoo would still be head coach. My point is it's not his fault the offense can't score.
His first run.
This current run...especially. the last 2 years...seems he was doing a lot of guessing on his calls...often wrong and costly. I'll discount much of it to WHO'S. our new guy? injuries....but still....
I think EA might pick Abram's and Mara will lean to Spags staying as HC or again forcing a HC to take Spags. EA will tell him "You gotta stop doing that! " And will then say: These are my recommendations..do what you want with them.

They were a top 3 defense last season. I don't know what you could criticize Spagnuolo for last year. This year he may have misstepped, but also there was some quit on the defensive roster.
I'm pretty sure Spags was DC for the two worst defenses in league history. And it was two different franchises and I think 3 years apart. Can that possibly happen to a guy who is good enough to be a head coach?

He was also the DC for some top 5 defenses and a super bowl winner. The whole perspective matters.
As to whether he can be a head coach? If he's the head coach, he won't be calling the defense. Just like we don't want offensive head coaches calling plays, why would you want a defensive head coach calling plays? Whether he can be a good head coach isn't so much related to his resume as a coordinator. Players seem to respect him. It's about how he deals with people more than how he designs blitzes once you're a head coach.

He was a God awful head coach.

Great a bean counter as GM. Let's bring in Sashi Brown and Paul DePodeata to help him out.

And tell him, "no thanks"
As a HC, he's also loved by the opposing team. On both sides of the ball.

He has a job. Also, Baltimore is kind of a mess.

You're out of your mind.
Bellicheck was somewhat of a bust in Cleveland before he ended up in New England. Look on the positive side;)!

That's baaad. He's more responsible for the draft picks than Reese.

Get Uncle Stevie to coach.
And Cousin Kevie can be the GM
