Just heard this
bradshaw44 : 12/4/2017 11:54 am : link
as well.
I mentioned Abrams
Powerclean765 : 12/4/2017 11:54 am : link
here a couple times and nobody wanted to hear it.

He's next man up, as Reese was when EA stepped down.
Curious to see if Abrams has a future with the team
mfsd : 12/4/2017 11:55 am : link
Seems like he’s well regarded as our capologist. But I’m sure the next GM may bring in mostly his own people of course

Believe it's Kevin.
Abrams has

been credited with some nifty contract structuring. He was Reese's numbers guy.

They need to keep Abrams in some capacity.
I know nothing of the GM

but I hope Spags, as well as the rest, was told he is gone after the season and this is just a temporary gig..

Nope..

Precisely why I didn’t want a change until after the season
Id assume

they addressed the going forward issue w Spags already
They are only Interim

I have to believe they will let the new HC, whoever that is, pick
PatersonPlank : 12/4/2017 11:58 am : link
his staff. If that includes Spags or someone still here, that will be up to them.
Wow. Big news. That was quick.
idiotsavant : 12/4/2017 11:59 am : link
Need OC with real not fake line chops.

Looks like falcs are hiding Chris Morgan. OL coach. Has had great success everywhere he went.

Then there's Dante and Steve scarnechia. BB brought SR. In to fix Pat's line for example.

Maybe a role of some kind for Norv Turner?
Good
BigBluesman : 12/4/2017 11:59 am : link
Enjoy these couple of weeks.
Would have preferred Sullivan as Interim HC
AnnapolisMike : 12/4/2017 11:59 am : link
But if Spags is well regarding in the locker room...then fine.
basically they waited a few weeks
bluepepper : 12/4/2017 12:00 pm : link
for Spags defense to be respectable again and then made the change. Couldn't have done it after the debacle in SF.
Abrams as Interim makes sense
Sammo85 : 12/4/2017 12:01 pm : link
You need someone to manage the roster moves and cap into the beginning of the offseason.
Spags has at least BEEN a HC before

should have been promoted over McAdoo last year. He earned it. McAdoo didn't. I wonder how things would have been different. Either way I am very happy to see Spags be listed as a New York Giant head coach.
I'd be shocked if Spags is the

One would think. This is why I would now go straight to Davis Webb the rest of way. I would do my best to convince Eli that he is the QB for next year, so he stays on to mentor Webb and/or their pick. Now, pray to SF to win a game or two.

Also I don't think Abrams gets fired
dpinzow : 12/4/2017 12:09 pm : link
if he isn't the GM going forward he likely stays as the capologist for the new GM (he's universally regarded in NFL circles as good at that)

LOL....Well, in a strange season, a strange result
with the Giants organization for damn sure.
That's not their style, but I am not shedding a tear, if true.
So does this mean the Saints 2nd

Spags
MookGiants : 12/4/2017 12:12 pm : link
does not deserve to be the HC, even on an interim basis. The defense has shown pathetic effort in most games this year, that's on him.
I could have sworn
Rocky369 : 12/4/2017 12:12 pm : link
there was something a couple weeks ago about how much players, not just Giants, didn't care for Spags. maybe during his stint with the Rams.

I'd hate to see the effort this defense would play with if they hated Spags.

He doesn't even deserve an interview for HC

thèse 2 will be hired in those roles. It’s the Mara way to hire people who are familiar and have worked for you. Since 1960 team has had 11 coaches and only 3 had never worked for team previously. The only GM who hadn’t worked for team was the Rozelle forced hiring of Young. Maras operate like a small business and not a billion dollar operation in a highly competitive environment.

I am ok with him finishing out the season but no way to I want him here next year. The guy was a complete disaster in St Louis and was a mini "McAdoo" as it relates to the crap in the locker room and organization. He even fired the equipment manager who was with the team for decades because the guy had a good connection to the players....and that was a threat to him.

Almost no chance Spags gets retained but there's no worse than a 50/50 chance that Abrams is GM and it's almost a certainty Abrams will go back to his previous role in the organization, which is OK (Abrams was very good at his role)

I don't think you tell Eli any such thing. It should be up to the new regime what they want to do with Eli and the QB situation. Ownership has meddled enough as it is. As of now, Eli is under contract for 2 more years, if they want to keep him, there is little he can do about it.

That said, it may be in their best interest to make Eli a June 1 cut, and bring in a cheap vet to take the reins for a year. As much as I love Eli, they have to do what is best for the organization, not what is best for Eli.

Doesn't matter if you pick 1st or 10th unless you (a) have both genius and luck on your side when you pick high, or (b) are willing trade that high pick down for more picks so that you can have more players to compete in camp
