GM Candidates

ryanmkeane : 12/4/2017 11:54 am
Eliot Wolf - 35 year old director of football ops for Green Bay - very well regarded and could be a hot name in the offseason. We worked his way up from assistant personnel director, to director of player personnel, and now director of football ops in a short time

Nick Caserio - 41 year old director of player personnel for New England. Don't know much about him - other than he seems to have an offensive background

Scott Pioli - 52 yr old assistant GM to Falcons...Patriots GM/architect of roster during their 2000s run and former Chiefs GM - did not have great success there

Eric DeCosta - 46 year old assistant GM of Baltimore Ravens, solid draft record and eye for talent and works hand in hand with Newsome to construct their roster

Who's your pick?

Good idea, Jerry Jones could be an excellent Giant

the guy from Dallas? What have they accomplished in the last 20 years??? They have one suspension and a few starters hurt and they look as bad as the Giants.
DeCosta is the most intriguing name on that list
AcesUp : 12/4/2017 12:31 pm : link
The Ravens pick and develop talent as well as any team in the league and have been doing so for quite some time. He's been pegged as the heir apparent to Newsome but I think we can steal him.
John Dorsey

Is a solid choice. The Giants will probably look for someone with experience and Dorsey did a great job with KC before losing a power struggle with Reid.
I'd keep Kevin Abrams

on JoJo Wooden out in San Diego. He runs their personnel department. And they have done a sneaky good job in the draft the last few years...

mentioned Brian Gaine the other day as a potential candidate. He's currently the VP of Player Personnel for Buffalo but he's worked in Houston and Miami (with Parcells) previously. He's also a local guy who was on the Giants practice squad for one season in the '90's.
The Green Bay guy
moespree : 12/4/2017 12:56 pm : link
Has been around the exact same system McAdoo came from. Maybe he has his own ideas and philosophies but it certainly has influenced him. I don't see the point in hiring him.

The Baltimore guy you mentioned has been listed before as a top GM candidate and one that many think will be very good.
Everyone is all over Pioli
Sonic Youth : 12/4/2017 12:58 pm : link
But his run in KC did not go well. I would NOT want Pioli here.
As Aces up suggested

I heard DeCosta's name brought up. Don't know anything about him can anyone elaborate?? I also feel we need to hire GM first and let him pick his coach.

Green Bay guy is intriguing

Green Bay has the highest number of self-drafted players on their roster, and the lowest big dollar free agents signed, yet always in the mix.
Caserio.

Could they always be in the mix due to Rogers however?
DeCosta would be the guy
