They didn't necessarily want Eli to be benched the way he was, but the directive seemed to be to work Webb in when he's ready unless they had a reasonable chance at winning the game.
Now that the band aid has been ripped off, we may still see Webb start, but even if he doesn't, I would expect him to get significant play time.
If they commit to Eli, do they commit to the development of Webb. Giving Webb 1 or 2 more years to develop could allow him to start.
This year then you go draft Barkley. Nelson? Trade back? 3-4 teams in the top 10 need a QB. Trade back to 11-12 might make the most sense.

When things started to go south this year, leadership needed to decide if they were committed to Eli and use the draft slot as an opportunity to improve the team around him — or plan for life after Eli. They took a half assed approach like they’ve done with everything and now the damage is done.
