Handley, Fassel and now Mac....

No Where Man : 12/4/2017 12:49 pm
Will he ever get a chance to become a Head Coach again? In our recent history, when we hired a HC with no prior NFL Head Coaching experience that person never got another chance in the league after we got rid of them. Perhaps our Head Coaching candidate requirements should be seriously looked at....?
Fassel shouldn't be put in the same category as
PatersonPlank : 12/4/2017 12:50 pm : link
Ha***ey or Mc**oo.
I can't see McAdoo getting another shot in the

pros.
Fassel could have had more opportunities
NorwoodWideRight : 12/4/2017 12:50 pm : link
but, according to rumor, the Giants F.O. squashed them.
I get what you're saying
Motley Two : 12/4/2017 12:51 pm : link
but it feels dirty lumping Fassel in with those other two.
Why not? I know he lasted longer than these two guys,
No Where Man : 12/4/2017 12:51 pm : link
but he never surfaced as a HC again......
Fassel actually got interviews with several teams.
Mr. Bungle : 12/4/2017 12:52 pm : link
And he was nearly hired by the Redskins.

No one will interview McAdoo for a head coaching vacancy. No way.
I don't see how
moespree : 12/4/2017 12:52 pm : link
People have long memories. And it wasn't just the ineptitude of the on the field product but how awful this guy was handling things off the field as well. Maybe he can convince someone that he has learned from his mistakes. But I doubt it. If McCarthy doesn't take him back he'll wind up in college somewhere.
Not to defend Handley
steve in ky : 12/4/2017 12:52 pm : link
and he likley never gets another chance but didn't he by choice voluntarily leave coaching?
Hire the guy that Benched Eli Manning
Fred in Atlanta : 12/4/2017 12:53 pm : link
for Geno Smith. OK That GM is asking to be fired.
mcAdoo should have NEVER
superspynyg : 12/4/2017 12:53 pm : link
been HC. He was qb coach with the Packers and OC for only a year. He had Zero experience.
Could see MacAdoo
Fred in Atlanta : 12/4/2017 12:54 pm : link
hired as an assistant coach though.

I think what happened to Fassel in Baltimore with his buddy Billick did him in.
Fassel has no place among those names
Banks : 12/4/2017 12:54 pm : link
He was a good coach overall. I don't know why he acted the way he did in Balt and screwed up his potential HC gigs, but he wasn't an assclown
Fassel has no business being lumped in with Mc***o and H*****y
dpinzow : 12/4/2017 12:54 pm : link
He got us to a Super Bowl and we made 3 playoff appearances in 6 years before they quit on him
OK fair enough, but I beg to differ about Fassel,
No Where Man : 12/4/2017 1:04 pm : link
he had the benefit of a good GM in Acorsi......and a ready made Defense with the likes of Strahan, Armstead, and Sehorn, entering their prime. As a game coach, I thought he was horrendous.

How do you lose a game, when you have the lead by 3 points and are kicking off with 11 seconds left to play? Fassel figured out a way to do it.

Thought it was the off-the-field issues.
Are some of you just reading the thread title?

The entire story of the Eli Manning era is that nearly all of the Super Bowls are won by elite QBs. Fassel never coached even an above average QB, yet still made a Super Bowl and won more than 50% of his games. He was a good coach.
The Chiefs will soon be looking for a new Coach

Andy Reid will not survive the collapse of the Chiefs. Dont be surprised if MACK talks them into giving him the job since Alex Smith is the type of WCO QB that he admires.

Kerry Collins was above average

Until EA set him up for failure in 2003 ...some of you guys must not remember the offensive line that EA put together in 2003.It makes this years O-line look like the great wall of Dallas

He had consecutive winning seasons once in his career, including zero times his final 15 seasons. There's nothing above average about that.

I was referring to his talent. Dude had a cannon for an arm and never forget 41-0 over the Vikings in the 2000 NFC Championship

Um. And what would he say? The guy whose Replacement you just traded up for a drafted in the first round is perfect for My shitty 3 WR offense? Mahomes is The QB of the very near future there. He's not even getting a call back from thenwith a "thanks but no thanks"
McAdoo makes Fassel look like Lombardi
HomerJones45 : 12/4/2017 2:51 pm : link
McAdoo will never get a head coaching job again. No GM or owner will ever take a chance on him after the mess he caused here. He's going back to being a position coach and that's where he will remain.
