Is that the Giants might be sparked up to win a few meaningless games and blow a once in a lifetime top 3 pick. Although, all things considered, I'm happy with what was done.
they y sinkbecause they don't have enough players and their offensive scheme is a joke.. They won't be implementing a new offense in 4 weeks. and every time they play is in the playoff race. Nobody will be letting down.
your average NFL team will pick 9 times in the top 3 over a lifetime. Not exactly 'once in a ..." -- i mean we were all alive when we got Eli in the first place right?
But I too am concerned we'll beat Dallas and another game to end this season. With SF playing better, there's no excuse not to nail down that #2 pick at this point! (and I'm holding out hope Cleveland, with Gordon back, can beat Rodgers-less GB at home and maybe take out Pittsburgh not playing for anything in week 17!)
want wins over Dallas and Philly. One over the Skins would be nice too. NYG will likely still have a top 10 pick, and the draft is such a crap shoot that I'm OK with risking a higher pick for some gratification now. Haven't had much to cheer about this year, and dealing out come loses to Division rivals would feel mighty good long about now.
i hate this reasoning, the giants are in dire need of talent and you want to trade extremely valuable picks that will help this franchise for winning a few meaningless games?
makes no sense.
If we are picking 5th and need to move up to 2...you are willing to trade a few 2nd's or a future first to move up a few spots?
So a few meaningless wins are worth just throwing other picks in the trash, is basically what you are saying.
..are that December went from the 'West-Coast Silver-String, McAdoo-Geno Submarine Band' to a true audition by every guy on the roster for the 2018 NYG. Add to that an interim HC, no matter what you think of his scheme, who was able to get players to play their asses off in St Louis even as the walls were crumbling, and ANYONE to handle the roster other than the guy who believed the LB and RB positions can be filled from the bargain bin (nod to Sy'56).
I think the only game they have a shot at is the Cardinal game.... Â
The draft is such a crap shoot that unless there's an LT on the board, it doesn't matter. I'm just happy I can root for them to win again ... yesterday was brutal conflict.
I have been one of the biggest proponents of firing both Reese and McAdoo for weeks now. But, I also was saying all week I wouldn't do it until immediately after the season. I really don't think there is much to gain today. Personally, I don't want anyone from the current staff to be the next HC and I don't think I want anyone from within the organization as GM. The damage was already done with Eli. I would use this as an opportunity to be true to the explanation and give Webb 4 games. That way they can truly evaluate him and not have a great shot at pulling out an upset or two. Sadly and realistically, the best thing for the franchise right now is to lose out and hope SF loses one more.
At a cost. The Giants were heading for a top 3 pick for free.

Plus it gives you a jump on GM/coaching candidate
a new GM
a new head coach
Free Agents
Draft picks possibly (remember Eli?)
Current players
I think that outweighs losing games for the rest of the season to get a higher pick.
Right now, the front office looks like Mickey Mouse (or, maybe more apt, Goofy). Some sort of management goes a long way.
Plus no Jenkins, the LBs are injured/terrible, JPP hasn't done anything.
Agree with other posters that perhaps they win one more game against either Cowboys or Redskins.
