Yesterday was rock bottom... Dysfunction dating back to before Coughlin left.
1- Reese and McAdoo did not like each other...
2- Ownership wants Eli to retire a Giant... Hoping a new GM/Coach can turn things around in 2 years with Eli at QB.
3- Neither Darnold nor Rosen are locks to leave... in fact both are leaning towards staying in school..
4- They actually like Webb and are intrigued in him being the eventual successor.
5- While ownership will try to apologize to Eli... amidst speculation that he might try to force them to move him or let him go.... He's under contract... He'll play it out... The streak is over and he's more interested in winning another ring... and that might be here.
Shame the streak had to end... But that's what it took to get these guys to do what needed to be done anyway... And that is fire Reese too!

And the irony in what's happening w/ #Giants? Ben McAdoo was NOT Jerry Reese's choice as head coach. I was told then, and again recently, he liked two other candidates more.

I think Reese wanted either Mike Smith or Teryl Austin.
1. Ownership requests a "live" evaluation of other QB's before the season ends.
2. McAdoo BUNGLES it and causes a HUGE media outrage.
3. The purge is Mara's response to fix a bad situation.
None of the OP's list is in contrast to this and what he has listed MAKES SENSE.
Darnold is more likely to stay in school. If that happens, then the Giants would have to trade a ton of picks to get Cleveland to part with Rosen. I don't see that happening, even with a new GM, especially since they already have Webb, and have a lot of other needs. That leaves Mayfield, Allen, or Jackson, none of whom are worth a top five pick.

This makes it even worse and looks like major meddling from the owners to be essentially handpicking the coach without the GM being on board. Talk about dysfunction.

B: Reese liked McAdoo at first then starting to butt heads w him. Not a huge leap since McAdoo is a guy who obviously thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room and has a huge ego. Things like not starting Fluker who proved to be the better player than the other choices or not playing Ellison more. Just maybe a couple of examples of McAdoo thinking he’s knows more than Reese. Just a guess.
Sounds like JR was the leak on this one....
