If this has been posted I apologize. Here's actor/comic Tom Arnold..a Giants Fan and friend of Nick Saban telling ESPN Saban's interest in the Giants a few years back. I know he just signed a mega deal with Bama, but what if Mama wins again this year? Might he want to really test the waters?

Jints Central, like most of the NFL, is archaic with this need to separate GM & HC duties. I don't know if they'd do it for Belichick...so there is no way they'd do it for Saban.
Plus, I think Saban needs a veteran QB who he doesn't have to groom. That is not his bailiwick. So I don't think he'd be the guy to bring in a rookie QB. And I don't think he'd feel Eli his is answer either...
Just doesn't quite add up...
He left after the season ended, not during it, like Petrino.
And if they'd signed Drew Brees instead of Dante Culpepper... who knows how it all would have played out.
I'll pass on Saban only because he'd want too much control and the whole coach + GM role so rarely works out in the NFL... but not because "he's a quitter"
In an age where teams can fire/not hire you for reasons like sexual harrassment allegations (without proof), negative twitter traffic (see Univ Tennessee), or overwhelming negative fan reaction to a decision (see Kaepernick, or this week's NYG) - why shouldnt a coach who knew he'd be better at the college game leave after a season is over?
He has nothing to prove especially if he wins a national championship this year and ties Bryant.
No.

Pete Carroll pulled it off late in his career.
And Pete's a veteran NFL coach. He's already learned what works and how to win. Do we even know if nick saban is a good nfl coach? I don't.

without having a significant amount of control. Do we have any idea if he knows how to manage personnel in today's NFL? And he'll be 67 next year.

Pete Carroll was 59 when hired by Seattle, and had spent most of his career in the NFL.
