Josh McDaniels

Ray_Ray (NYG) : 12/4/2017 9:05 pm
I can’t seem to find where on here I read about a rumor regarding Josh McDaniels as possibly a HC candidate or an interest to the Giants. Is that correct? I just feel, personally that John Mara will go with Abrams or Gettleman as the new GM. Mara doesn’t like changes like that it seems.
I am not high on McDaniels.
robbieballs2003 : 12/4/2017 9:08 pm : link
I really want a defensive minded HC but that isn't imperative. We need a guy that can lead men, takes all the blame, deflects all the credit, and can get a competent staff on board.
I’d rather Patricia over McDaniels if Giants want a Patriot
Ben in Tampa : 12/4/2017 9:17 pm : link
But the history of The Belichick coaching tree once they leave New England should give Mara pause on either
Shaw and Harbaugh
Earl the goat : 12/4/2017 9:18 pm : link
Would turn this team around quickly
I really hope they don't decide on the new HC or GM
Jay on the Island : 12/4/2017 9:20 pm : link
because they are familiar with them. Gettleman will keep the status quo IMO. He neglected the offensive line in Carolina.
Harbaugh is the obvious choice
Vanzetti : 12/4/2017 9:26 pm : link
He has let people know he wants back into the NFL. He would love the big stage in NY

But I think the Giants are too staid and conservative to bring in a guy like Harbaugh
Not crazy about McDaniels. Or Patricia for that matter.

Whenever the Pats D gives up a big play and the camera pans to a perplexed Patricia with the beard, the hat, the pencil in his ear, he looks like a general contractor who just realized he's 5k over budget.

Hahaha. Good one. McDaniels still has that frat boy look too.

If the Texans are dumb enough to fire Bill O’Brien I’d take a look at him. I think Pat Shurmur deserves another HC shot too. I’m not a big fan of Mike Smith. Teryl Austin is a guy who I think could be a better head coach than coordinator.
It's gonna be hard to evaluate McDaniels, at least I think it'd be
j_rud : 12/4/2017 9:38 pm : link
Rising star on a great team with arguably best QB of all time. Flames out quickly as a HC. Returns to great team/QB and resumes success. I'd prefer they stay away. But what do I know. I was all for promoting McAdoo.
McDaniels HC stint at Denver worries me
PatersonPlank : 12/4/2017 9:43 pm : link
If I remember he had some of the same issues that McAdoo had

I like O Brien as well. I wish John Harbaugh would shake loose from Baltimore.

Honestly his first order of business was getting rid of Cutler and can anyone blame him, knowing what we know now?

Didn't he also fuck one of his players' wife?
Actually

Peyton Hillis tried banging McDaniels' wife.

The Broncos gave McDaniels full control or something absurd like that.

He was the one who drafted Tim Tebow in the 1st round. Then again he was the one who crafted an offense around Tim Tebow that was pretty successful and won a playoff game.

He probably learned his lesson from that debacle in Denver. Thats why he should stick to being a HC and actually have a GM who isn't his puppet. That's why you hire a GM first and not force a coach on them.
"Staid" you say ? - the Giants style ...
Manny in CA : 12/4/2017 11:03 pm : link

How about the madman (Parcells), I don't remember him aa a "conservative" gentleman.
McDaniels is an OC
EricJ : 12/4/2017 11:08 pm : link
not a head coach
Harbaugh is not coming here..
EricJ : 12/4/2017 11:09 pm : link
his personality is not a fit with this organization.
I like Mike Vrabel
allstarjim : 12/4/2017 11:33 pm : link
With the Texans. I just see him as a great head coach one day. Perhaps it's too soon for him, though.

If the Giants
McNally's_Nuts : 12/4/2017 11:44 pm : link
Hire Mike Vrabel, I’ll laugh at the irony of it.

I thought I remembered a lot of turmoil when he was there. The Cutler thing, the Tebow thing, players having issues with him, etc. It seemed a lot like us this year.

time in Denver bears a strong resemblance to McAdoo and the Giants.

While I think it's silly to dismiss it outright, (he might have it in him to be a good HC) his hiring would make me uneasy.
Can he bring Brady & Belichick with him

The guy whose players have hated him everywhere he coaches?
McDaniels is my first choice,
Section331 : 12/5/2017 9:02 am : link
but will he want to leave NE? Maybe BB has told him when he intends to retire, and McD wants to wait for that gig.

Although I'm not sure it will be such a high profile spot post-Brady.

I’d hate to replace Belichick. That is a recipe for disaster.
Mcdaniels
Giantslifer : 12/5/2017 12:35 pm : link
NO!!
If Giant fans thought MacMagoo was arrogant, wait until they get ahold of Mcdaniels..
ALL the Broncos (players and management ) hated him. Add in the fact that no NE asst. coaches have done a damn thing.
He still looks and acts like the spoiled rich kid at the park.
Study their plays , don't hire their coaches.Management possibly.
Remember, NE did just fine while he was away.

Patricia is a tone deaf meathead, pass. His defense has been absolute shit too, it's Tom Brady that bails him out these days.

You sure about that Tom Brady quote?

Quote:
Patriots defense recovered from sluggish first month, now thriving: Despite injuries to key players like Dont’a Hightower, the Patriots defense hasn’t allowed more than 17 points in seven straight games.

That’s a run that ranks highly in the history of not merely the Belichick era in New England, but against the rest of the NFL in the last decade. (WEEI)
