Was talking about this last week at work... With how much support Eli received from other players, former players, coaches, etc. over his benching last week, the question was posed:
What other current NFL players would have received a similar showing of support if their team did something like that?
The one name that was unanimously mentioned was Larry Fitzgerald. Just a class-act star WR that not many can fault. Well-liked and respected across the sport. Who are some others?
Drew Brees
Eric Berry
Matt Ryan I think is another, he does a lot of off-field charity work.
Not only is Ray Rice on it... Greg Hardy is too!
Jay Cutler?
I realize this was 4-5 years ago - but what a horrendous lack of foresight.

Poor Terrell Thomas.
That Michael Jordan is such a phony
Personality wise, yeah - I think he's corny.
But I think he's a good guy otherwise and seems to be pretty well-respected. He just seems like a dude who tries a little too hard.
Back to well-liked players... Joe Thomas was another one people mentioned.

Russell Wilson is kind of a phony. Anyone else feel that way?
That Michael Jordan is such a phony
Might I indulge in some baseless armchair psychology? Excellent!
I suspect Wilson is at least a little uncomfortable being himself in an NFL locker room because his background and circumstances were very different than most of his teammates. He's from a wealthy family - his dad was a lawyer. He went to a VERY hoity-toity private school (I can attest to that from personal experience - knew a bunch of kids who went to Collegiate) from K-12. He's apparently had some issues in the clubhouse with other players who think he's not "authentic" enough because he was a rich prep school kid. It can't be easy to have problems stemming from factors you can't control - it's not as if anyone can choose their upbringing and family.
Speaking of phonies....talk about a guy who tries wayyyyy to hard to make sure everyone knows he's just a regular Joe.
What I've heard from an acquaintance who knows many Seahawks players personally is that you are correct.

Yep, that sounds about right. I'd agree.
That Michael Jordan is such a phony
Jordan is a phony? You might be the only guy in the world who thinks that. Jordan is unapologetic in being a dick.
It's a Seinfeld reference, hence the pic that was posted.
- Jason Witten
- Ryan Fitzpatrick
- DeMarco Murray
- Antonio Gates
- Luke Kuechly
- Thomas Davis
- Matt Bryant
- Jordy Nelson
- Doug Baldwin
I'm sure there are many more.

He came across at UW as very real. He was very close to his father, who did young before Russell hit his stride -- and I felt that was an issue. I've come across some really fine special young atheletes who lost a parent and iyt seemed to matur them fastera dn in a good direction.
I think he was just named sportsman of the year for the work he has done in Houston, especially this year with the hurricane.
A number of programs (including UW) streess giiving back to the community as part of being a student-athelete.
