I think it is about getting a head coach who can assemble a great COACHING STAFF. Hire top guys as assistants. We can talk all we want about the next head coach, but the fate of the Giants will rest on the type of coaching staff he is able to put together. The Eagles, Vikings, Cowboys, and others do not go for the up and coming OC or DC who they will lose after a year if they are good. Getting a young head coach is fine, but surround them with proven coaches, who may have failed as head coaches, at key positions. Coaches like Schwartz, Marinelli, Shurmer, Sporano, Phillips, and Callahan are examples. Coaches like Dick Lebeau and Jimmy Johnson (Philly) are examples that kept their respective teams relevant for years. Coaches that might get fired this year would be a great place to start. I don't know who will get fired, but guys like John Fox (DC), Hugh Jackson (OC), Gase (OC), O'Brien, etc...
I think it is up to the head coach to set the tone and motivate. They should manage the games, and the season, get great coordinators and coaches to manage the X and O.
Personally, I would want great coaches at OC, DC, ST, OL, and DL. I think the coordinators are the brains of the team and the line coaches are the heart.
Too many (most?) head coaches come with 'their scheme' and force it on players who lack the specialized skill to make it successful. I think this is the secret to Belichick's success

This....I feel this is what separates Belichick from the rest because if he adapts and overcomes.
I get that Belichick can use a more chameleon approach; but the Patriots are a tough team to model things after.
I want someone to come in here and make a real commitment to being a strong, physical football team that wins in the trenches and plays defense. I want to be a run-first team that uses more play-action passing.
No more "pass to set up the run"
I want the Giants to be a hard team to play against.
Build the team from the inside out. Significant importance must be placed on the trenches.
And for fucks sake, LINEBACKERS. Prioritize them. They matter.
Maximizing the talent you have gets you a good team. A better team adapts to who they face.
But the bottom line is execution. All the plans in the world go for naught when your prep fails to turn into execution.
Make sure you and your GM are on the same page and gives you the tools to succeed.
