Marc Ross and the scouts

13ODB : 12/5/2017 3:22 pm
They should all be gone to. And listening to Mara's press conference he said Marc Ross our head of scouting it will be business as usual an they will continue to do what they are doing. Why is this guy getting a pass?? I know the season is not over yet but it did not sound like Mara is in any rush to fire this guy him and these scouts have done a terrible job to. This should be a full house cleaning from top to bottom nobody should be surviving this mess I don't even know why spags is even being considered a candidate for next season.
You can't replace all the scouts right now.

People need to be prepping for FA and the draft. I'm sure the new GM will have say over who stays/goes.

and his scouts are in the middle of scouting the 2018 draft.

That work cannot be replicated or manufactured in weeks after a new GM is hired. They will have to find their staff and get their team in place.

It puts less pressure on the search, allowing the right person to be hired without the pressure of time on top of the normal challenges.

a new GM does not replace the scouting departments until AFTER the draft

Post a thread with this subject line and let's have it pinned. Maybe these nincompoops will stop asking why Ross hasn't been canned.
Find out how long the Giant scouts have been with the Giants

Most have been there for a VERY long time (in football terms). I would be shocked if there was a complete gutting of the scouting department right away. Maybe a slow turnover, a few years in the making, but don't be surprised if many stay.
too.

Ross may go after the draft,

but I doubt the scouts are let go.

+1
There is obviously something very flawed with the drafting.

Good drafting starts with good scouting.

I suspect that there needs to be some changes in the scouting. They need to do a better job of identifying the best candidates, particularly for the OL where too many choices have been just plain wasted over the past ten years.

BUT the guy responsible for laying out the draft board, ranking the prospects properly, and advising the guy making the final choice is Marc Ross. And he's been piss poor at it for literally decades. He has to go, and the sooner, the better. Let somebody else set up the board for this draft. He can't do any worse than Ross has done for the past ten years.

You can replace the GM and HC but not the scouting departments because they are separate from those guys. This is another lie the owners are telling to make you fans happy because you got those two fired.

Who said that?
Scouting is reporting on what is observed, heard, and

discovered about potential players. Scoring cards or systems are used which are computerized. The real issue is how these reports are synthesized and evaluated. Scouts are probably not the problem. That undoubtedly exists at a higher level of putting the data together

2018 draft. But even then, there's no way to know whether the Giants' questionable picks were due to Ross & co. not providing sound evaluations or Reese and the HC failing to select the best players from Ross's value board.
