Blast from the past: NFL Films highlights Giants-Dallas 1980

had a big game. I remember watching that game at my Grandmother's house. Being a Giant fan then, with nothing but some newspaper stories here and there and news highlights, was a lot simpler. A win was a win, the record not as important, especially since PLAYOFFS, we're talking about PLAYOFFS in a Jim Mora voice, since those games were for other teams..

In some ways I miss that time. Now it is almost like we know and see too much. The league really needs to look at itself and see where it can go and how it can improve as over saturation is a problem but fan loyalty and involvement is waning with all the outside BS that is now attached to the game.

this game a few weeks ago ,The 1980 season was the first season I remember watching every game Btw we never wore our home jerseys @ home and only wore them twice both on the road @ St Louis and @ San Diego .Also I think the broncos game that year was blacked out on TV in NY/NJ as its not available for sale anywhere and its not on youtube .

Back then, Giants tix were both harder to get and expensive (for us). Towards the end of another miserable season, a guy my dad worked with let him have his tix to this one. And they won! It started raining at the end, so we saw the game ending interception from the concourse.

The next year, before the season started, the same guy gave my dad the tix to the Dallas-Giants game. Once it turned out that the game would be the most important game in years, he tried to buy them back. Luckily for me my dad recognized I would never talk to him again if he did.

Its amazing just how much 1 player changed the course of a franchise. LT changed everything about this team. He became a force in such a way that years of losing was wiped clean in 1 season. The next two years were more circumstance than anything and Bill Parcells having a chance to redo the roster was huge. But, LT was the engine that made it all possible!

loved that game, and I believe the Giants would win the next week versus GB at home where Simms tossed 3 TDs I believe.....

The days of listening to Jim Gordon and Dick Lynch on WNEW........the memories!!

Mike Friede would get hurt later that season (knee?) in San Fran I believe, rehabbed, but never showed that flash again in 1981 and was cut before 1982...........
