Trigger for Bloodletting

I was really interested to see, looking at the transcript of Mara's announcement of the firings, how big a role the rest of the schedule played in the move. He said he was "cognizant" that 3 of our last 4 games are at home -- I think alluding to the expected environment of 20% Giants fans, 80% opponent's fans, and all our 20% holding "Fire Reese," "Fire McAdoo," and "Eli Is Our QB" placards.

I'm sure he was really pissed off that McAdoo did NOT (fully) get on the same page with him re the benching, and that set things to tottering between an end-of-season firing and a mid-season. And the actual trigger was the prospect I stated above. So it was largely a PR deal -- kind of heartening to know ownership cares how the fans feel.

might have also feared a small plane trailing a banner.
I think the trigger was Tisch

Opening Mara's eyes to that point. Tisch doesn't usually travel to road games especially in a bad year to an armpit stadium like the one in Oakland
