Last three seasons were pretty bad. The season opening loss to Dallas, which set the tone for the season, was one of the worst examples of snatching defeat from the hands of victory you ll see.
Don t understand the blind spot where the end of his tenuty is concerned.
Before he was let go didn't he come off 3 straight losing seasons and miss the playoffs 4 straight years and 6 out of 7 years??? Yea a 71 year old coughlin is the answer smh
Considering that it appeared we were on a collision course
for Eli to end up in Jacksonville (and it still may happen), would have anyone have signed up for this last year...
Triumvirate of GM/VP Coughlin, HC Marrone and QB Manning. Revisionist history but Eli was a given in my book and I blamed the talent issues more on Jerry Reese. Marrone had HC experience and was fairly successful. Hindsight is 20-20 - of course it wasn't our call as I would've done it.

I think we have put to rest where the blame lies for that. Hint: he got canned on Monday.
On the other hand, Jaguars 8-4, guaranteed at least a .500 record for the first time since 2010. If they win one more game, their first winning season since 2007. Yeah, he's too fucking old.
Coach 3 win talent to 6 wins and a handful of last minute losses and get canned while owners spend 200 million for a nitwit and cover up for the clown who was supposed to get the talent. You see the results; draw your own conclusions.

"Alexa?...Is Tom Coughlin the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars?..."

Here's a quiz, Gene - how many Jags starters were already on the roster the day Coughlin was hired?
fail to grasp the reality that Tom had a TON of input on the roster when he was coach for 12 years. He's a big reason the OL had problems - hanging onto favored Vets for too long.
Marrone will be good for another year and then will wear out his welcome. I bet the Jags, who also spent a bunch of money in FA, will be below .500 two years from now.
last year, probably a better record than the Jags will end up with this year in a crappy AFC. By that logic McAdoo, a hire of TOM COUGHLIN, was a good head coach.
You mean the FF company that sponsored it?

They hardly pissed away money on this. They want Giants fans (and other football fans) to notice their FF site. Mission accomplished.

It'll never happen, but if the Giants were open to taking Coughlin back, and Coughlin wanted the job, could the Jags block the move?
Yes, a contract of employment.

Are there rules in place that prevent a team executive, while under contract, from accepting a lesser role on a different team?
Yes, a contract of employment.
So Coughlin's contract forbids him from quitting whenever he likes and taking a HC somewhere else?
