HC position. Offensive line is the key for pro teams and Mike knows what it takes to be a pro offensive lineman.
As most of the mentioned candidates have been fired, so has Mike. Reportedly, the main reason he was fired was because he was told to get rid of some assistants and he refused to do so.
He wouldn't get much lip from players either. He has been there and would garner respect from the players as he reportedly had in Tennessee.
He isn't in the Gruden or the Cowher popularity class but there is a good chance he can get the job done.
the HC can hire an OL expert. he doesn't need to be the expert, he just needs to be committed.
He's been a HC at Tennessee for 3 years. Ok. He never was coordinator but the guy was head coach? He's always coached or played on offense. I'm very confused by some responses here.
I'm also on the Pat Shurmer bandwagon.

I hope he at least gets an interview.
Why? He was a colossal flop as a HC. What has he done since?
His offenses were top five in PPG in Philly in 13 and 14, but slipped to 13th in 15. He's turned Case Keenum into a Pro Bowl caliber QB this year. I think he's getting a ton out of average-ish talent in Minnesota this year. He helped Bradford have a great rookie year back with the Rams in 2010.
He's done well everywhere except the Browns. Everyone sucks on the Browns.
Then things will fall into place. F all that we need a defensive coach, an oline coach, a this and that.
What do you consider inspiring? A familiar name from the broadcasting booth that hasnt coached in 10 years? A college retread? Shall we give away a million first round draft picks to pry Belichick or Tomlin from their teams?
Personally, I dont need to be inspired. Just come in and do a good job. You know who’s not an inspiring name? Doug Pederson...
I could even see a playoff loss through a coaching gaffe.

As someone who hates the eagles more than all the teams in the history of the world, combined, I hope you're right.
