NFT: No Game of Thrones in 2018

Mr. Bungle : 12/7/2017 9:28 am
Sophie Turner seems to have confirmed what's been speculated. No Game of Thrones until 2019.

It looks more likely that each Season 8 episode will be movie-length, too.

Hopefully, they spend the extra time hammering away a higher-quality narrative than the previous couple of seasons.

Not unexpected

when it comes to scope and scale of episodes, and especially battle scenes, Im sure theyll deliver in spades.

As for writing the story to conclusion...I think were in for more of the same from season 7. Going to need to try and suspend reality and reason to enjoy it
they might

Will we ever see the next book?

No, he will never finish writing the series.

The show no longer has the books to rely on. The narrative is weak now and Martin will never finish the series. When I first watched this past season I thought it was good mainly because it was bringing some progress to a story that I first read in 1997. That is a long time ago. Upon reflection and second viewings I realized how weak the story of this past season really was.

Of course I will watch the final season when it finally does come out. Just to bring some closure to all of this. It sucks though that if you read the Song of Ice and Fire from that start, you will never get a true ending

Milking the shit out of it

definitely delaying the ending as long as possible at this point.

Eh, at least they're not trying to split the final season into 2 seasons or over 2 years. They probably could get it done in time for Fall 2018 but why rush it?

Yup all true. I watched season 1 of the show originally, then paused to read the first 3 books, then watched seasons 2-3, all in about 9 months. That was awesome, and while the show started to veer away from the books already, it was still a very good adaptation.

Obviously fully committed to the end of the story regardless as well, but its a shame well likely never get to read the full ended as written by GRRM
The delay also has to do with
Pete in 'Vliet : 12/7/2017 11:37 am : link
the characters and plot being condensed into one or two locations. In past seasons they were able to have 3 or more production crew working at the same time in different cities across the globe, so each crew only had to film about 1/4 (or less) of a season

Now everything is pretty much being filmed by one crew in Belfast. (Although I do think there will be a few scenes filmed in Iceland) This and the longer, and large in scale episodes is why it will take so long.

my weak prediction

February 2019 - Sunday after the Super Bowl. Next time we see game of thrones

Isnt actually ending anytime soon (4 more seasons planned) this is simply due to production.

They essentially already did that. They have already reached the "over-saturation" point with many viewers and with their future plans for the series I can only see it getting worse. At this point I'm more excited to see what the LotR series will look like.

That's a completely inaccurate way to describe it. The next season will be the final season of this show. Then there will be prequel series.
