Is it me, or does this game feel kind of big?

Sean : 12/7/2017 10:13 pm
At 2-10, no game is big and we are all ready for an action packed offseason. But, this game has some juice to me. There are multiple factors:

1. Eli is back under center. Last week at this time we all wondered if he was done playing as a Giant.

2. The stench of McAdoo is gone. Spagnuolo is coaching & Sullivan is coaching the offense (Coughlin guys). It just feels better.

3. Throwback uniforms.

4. The opportunity to put a coffin in the Cowboys season. Misery loves company.

Again, at 2-10 no game is big, but it has that feel.

At the same time, I’m conflicted. This franchise needs fresh ideas & im fully aware of what can happen with interim coaches. The Giants cannot afford to hire another HC who has been an assistant on the prior losing staff. I don’t THINK Mara & the new GM would hire an interim HC, but who knows.

I’m pumped up for this game Sunday & I would have never thought that last week.
agree with everything you said...

Almost bought tix to game and then realized that it was my sister's baby shower and I would be alone with my 13 month old son Tyler Manning Beeds for the day
I'm excited too, but try not to forget this is a bad team
EmpireWF : 12/7/2017 10:19 pm : link
On the plus side, Dallas is without their best player who would run over the Giants defense. But, if they're going to win another game this season, it would be this Sunday.
I really believe we win about 2 games down the stretch.

I don't want to but I just see it happening now.

I think the D plays inspired ball this week.
I’m thinking JPP

will go all out and give 20%.
It only has juice for people who think #1 means anything.

I don't. We're 2 and fucking 10 and he's a part of getting to that record.
yep

I'm very excited to go to this one. Beat Dallas, man.

Let's welcome Eli back (should've never left) with a victory vs the most annoying fans in the world, well second most.

LOL, Rotten Apple with the best comment on BBI in a very long time.

No excitement for me, really. This season sucks. I won't be mad if we beat Dallas and essentially end their season - but I'd rather just keep racking up the losses. Winning the game won't do anything but provide temporary happiness in a completely shitty football season.
I want the team, especially Eli, to play well...
Milton : 12/8/2017 1:50 am : link
But I want them to lose. I want them to finish 2-14. I don't want Spags back next year.

Eli to have a great first half-
Engram and gallman to Star
The oline to be dominant
The team to give up 4 special teams touchdowns in the 3rd quarter
Webb come in the 4th and look great

Giants lose 35-21

It's big for Spags

so what changes..if not for worse (injury wise) in 2 weeks

aside eli taking 1 game off that this is a sudden turnaround? and turns this into a big game?
Nothing

changes on offense and the defense will keep them in the game. We have no weapons left on offense and the Line is still a issue.
It does feel big

After all the drama over the past two weeks.

They'd definitely win if this were a movie.

This is going to be a fun game.
truebluelarry : 12/8/2017 7:58 am : link
The Giants are juiced and are going to play their hearts out, and the fans will be behind them all the way. If nothing else, it will be a cathartic experience to release all the negativity of this shitty season and the abomination of what transpired last week.

That being said, emotion does not win games alone and the Giants are still a bad team. A win is not guaranteed. but the Cowboys are vulnerable and the Giants would like nothing more than to drag them into the dumpster with them.

Throw in the Giants wearing their 1980s white jerseys and Dallas in their blue jerseys, and the aesthetic appeal skyrockets as well.

A win here gives everyone something to feel good about from this otherwise horrendous 2017 season.
we are 2-10
Giants86 : 12/8/2017 8:11 am : link
and need that top pick. That being said I look forward to going on Sunday. I enjoy myself regardless. The tailgate masks my frustration about the season. I think we will stay in the game Sunday. We are still without an Oline, with backup corners, No linebackers, and for the most part backup WRs. Talent will prevail in the end. Do I think we can win-- YES. Do I think we will-- unlikely. For the record the Cowboys will not make the playoffs either.
If we have to win another game

watched this season with your blue tints on, if you think we are going to win....this offense does not score points.....

They don't need Elliot to run against this defense.....who is going to cover Dez? Whitten may retire after this game, he may never have another one like it...

Dak had not played well.....but with no pass rush, he will extend the play and wait for someone to get open over the middle of this defense.....oh did I mention they have several other receivers on their team?

Won't make any difference who our qb is....Dallas has a pass rush.....if Eli does not have the time to wait for these guys to get open, because the way they run routes, it takes forever to get open...

It will be interesting to see, if it is not a blowout, if Webb gets any playing time as mandated by Mara......

It is not going to be a fun game to watch.......
I get what you're saying....
Britt in VA : 12/8/2017 8:47 am : link
there is a level of intrigue to it.

It's certainly the first game I've looked forward to in a long time, and actually plan on watching.

Kind of allows me to escape the awfulness of this season and be enthusiastic about a game.

For some long time fans, this may be their last Giants season... Everybody wants something to feel temporarily happy about.
Its a playoff game for Dallas...
silverfox : 12/8/2017 9:04 am : link
...so yeah, its a big deal for them. It feels big also because its the first POST-McAdoo game, and because its the hated cowboys and the Giants would love to help knock them out of the playoffs.
Good post Sean.
Powerclean765 : 12/8/2017 9:11 am : link
I cannot describe enough how thrilled I am McAdoo’s gone. As in key pass restricted. I hated his offense even during the passable statistical years under TC.

Of course, there is no real time to change the offense but we absolutely CAN get back to Giants Football: pound the run and take deep shots off play action. If we dont have the players let them fall on their sword: its a winning strategy in the Northeast.

I’ll be pulling for Spags. Unlike BM, I think he’s got the strategic, innovative mind to out-joust opposing Head Coaches. Would be interested in seeing him paired with a strong-minded OC with a Giants system.

**One note: Giants already going to have a very high pick. Likely top 5 even with win. Could all just set up nicely to land Quenton Nelson who is arguably the best football player (with Bradley Chubb imo) in this draft.

Webb is the goods as a prospect and has the size, toughness & arm strength to excel in a Giants Offense. The Howitzer and tight spiral to drive the ball through the wind. Done want another QB until he proves he cant play.

with what happened, the Giants will be playing hard and that they are going to come out flying on the defensive end and special teams. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a locker room pep talk from mara or even a giant legend like strahan.

but it doesn't feel big - the first part of the big change happened on Monday. the second part of the bigness will be when we find our new GM/HC/QB trio.

I get it - I just think if you're more concerned with the future of the Giants, a loss would be the better outcome.

Like I said, I really won't be mad about essentially ending Dallas' season. I'm fairly sure if we beat them, they have virtually no chance at all to get into the playoffs.

I'm definitely going to be rooting for Eli. No doubt about it.

But my ideal scenario would be Eli having an excellent game but us ultimately losing.

It's a weird dynamic and an annoying way to watch a football game. But for me, I have the Giants' long-term interests prioritized far above the few hours of satisfaction I'd get out of killing the Cowboys' season.
It's as big a game you can have with a 2-10 team.
Section331 : 12/8/2017 10:22 am : link
I certainly understand those rooting for a loss for a better pick, but it's the fucking Cowboys. I'd love a win and take our chances.
honestly

I'm most excited for when the stadium announces Eli's name as the starter and when he takes the field for the first drive. I'm looking forward to the reception from the crowd.

I am too. I'll definitely admit that. I think the atmosphere is going to be exciting if nothing else.

arcarsenal : 12/8/2017 10:27 am : link
Which totally contradicts my first post on this thread - I guess what I mean is, I'm looking forward to seeing the reception Eli gets, etc.. but the game itself doesn't have much juice for me.

Never would have thought this would be a meaningless game back when the schedule came out. I thought this was going to be a huge one. So I'm pretty bummed about that.

But yeah - I'd love to see Eli play well.

Dallas is playing for its playoff life after the Atlanta win. Everyone is injured, I see a depressing game in my future, where Dallas runs all over us and Eli gets killed behind the line and looks awful. The Eli haters go bonkers on BBI and we all go straight to fucking hell.

I could see that.
I just don't think the Giants are very good this year
gidiefor : Mod : 12/8/2017 7:34 pm : link
it's the same coaching staff and lots of injuries, a terrible O line, a wounded Sheppard, and a well-coached Dallas Defense also fighting for jobs and that we don't match up well with

Just doesn't seem like a winning formula to me
.....
Route 9 : 12/8/2017 8:22 pm : link
You don’t think the Giants are good this year? I’m guessing the 2-10 record might have set that thought in your head gidie, lol. I thought this team had absolutely ZERO chance against Kansas City. I thought they were going to get demolished 49-0 or something. Nope. The Giants won the game 12-9 in OT.

Plus, is there something that makes Dallas so scary all of a sudden? Turns out KC wasn't all so big and scary.

Buuuuut, I think Dallas wins 23-20 in OT.

The fans saying a loss helps long term are failing to mention that the teams don't feel this way. The teams are trying to win. It's fine to want the loss if you're a fan, I think you're nuts if you don't want to ruin the season for Dallas but ok, fine, but to then blast the team or mgmt if they should win is total fucking garbage. And those people are out there.

I hope we win. Fuck Dallas. We can't win 3 fucking games this year that's too many for the tank Brigade? Too bad.
