cosell then announced he was dead
that I truly idolized. I'll never forget studying in my dorm room when a friend knocked on my door to tell me the news that Lennon had been shot. I went with him to the pub, and we watched MNF and waited for updates. Afterwards, we headed down to Central Park, outside the Dakota, where many admirers gathered for a vigil. Such a sad night.
but was saddened because his murder made no sense at all.
if his limo driver took him and Yoko to the underground parking garage like normal instead of dropping them off in front it wouldnt have happened. Mark Chapman said it was that night or never and he wouldve gone back home to Hawaii
I'm 62 - been a part time professional musician for 44 years and John was an idol to me. I was driving home on the Garden State Parkway in NJ from band practice in Union to my apt in Nutley. Heard the news on NEW FM, pulled over on the shoulder cuz all I could do was cry - about 10 others pulled over as well. I'm playing tonite in North Branch NJ and must start the gig with "Imagine".
Same here.
Also, from this day in History page:
US declaration for WW2
nuclear weapon reduction agreement
NAFTA
Me as well.

Yeah, especially when Strawberry Fields is right across the street. Have some decency.
Still unbelievable.
RIP.
