Gettleman/Smith- Smith's game management in big games.
Caserio/McDaniels- Biggest drawback McDaniels and Pats records without each other.
The McDaniels negatives you listed are just BS mentioned by others in previous posts. I am tied of hearing that shit. The Pats have been a successful franchise period but their offense put up huge numbers under McDaniels. Plus, when he wasn't there, they were still running his offense... Besides, McDaniels biggest issue was he tried to take Tebow and make him an NFL QB. That being said, he did things with Tebow that were successful. The one area he couldn't change was Tebow's passing skills. But, game planning and using plays that allowed his strengths to come through were evident.
That is my dream team. McDaniels would exploit the mismatch Engram provides. I want someone who builds an offense around the talent rather force a square peg into a round hole.
Riddick/Saban- If Saban committed to coming to the NFL, I don't think he would fail this time. Probably last stop.
Caserio/McDaniels- Younger and more aggressive with a chip on their shoulders. McDaniels is creative. I think they draft Lamar Jackson. McDaniels wants to build a cutting-edge offense. (look at Tebow in Denver).
I'd go with Paton/Shurmur mainly because of Paton but also because Shurmur is growing on me. Surprised that he's only 52. Seems like he's been around forever. Like what he's doing in Minny and since Zimmer is a defensive guy you know he's the driving force behind the O. Probably deserves a 2nd shot at HC and Cleveland is a tough spot so wouldn't hold that failure rule him out.
They have both been hesitant to leave in the past, but the Giant openings are about as attractive as they come.
Blue blood franchise, major market, vet HOF QB in place, top 3 draft pick in a strong QB year, patient ownership, stud HOF potential receiver, All-Pro potential players scattered throughout the roster etc.
Shaw also spent 4 years in Baltimore coaching QBs/WRs during DeCosta's tenure, so there in familiarity.
Better not screw thus up. Absolutely no way to Gettleman and Smith, or either individual. Has to be outside the comfort zone, or else you’ll have the same problems as currently exist.
RE: The youthful appeal of both Wolf and DeFilipo Â
Is very intriguing. That’s my preferred combination, which also means it has zero chance of coming to fruition.
I doubt the Giants go with that much youth unless they bring in someone like Gettleman or McCloughan as assistant GM or director of personnel, etc. It could work if DeFilippo agrees to bring in a OC or DC with HC experience.
There’s nothing to get excited about re: the Packers roster and not worth the risk of another McAdoo situation with a guy with very limited experience.

Seems like a home run pairing in my book. [/quote]
He was on the right path in Miami and he has nothing left to accomplish at Alabama. I think he would be highly motivated if he were to come to the Giants

If we hire Mike Smith my head might explode. He's old, not particularly charismatic and currently presides over arguably the worst defense in the NFL. Besides John Mara liking him (which obviously counts for a lot),from a fan's perspective, what makes him an even remotely attractive potential hire? I'm legitimately curious
would make this team have considerable success come draft time with Saban knowing and dealing with the college players for years ala Pete Carroll when he came back to the nfl
I sure as hell know nobody in the Atlanta organization Â
"Sure, there might be some trepidation about the fact that DeFilippo has never been a coordinator - let alone a head coach - but the Rams' Sean McVay could be opening doors for such youth movement."
McVey was an OC for the Redskins for several years prior to becoming the HC for the Rams. Just saying.
After that, of the ones listed here I'd go
Riddick/Saban-Biggest drawback Saban's age.
Gettleman/Smith- Smith's game management in big games.
Caserio/McDaniels- Biggest drawback McDaniels and Pats records without each other.

I like Riddick. He seems very smart and I think he might be the best thing about ESPN, which isn't say much I know.

I would be happy with both

In a Chicago newspaper this past weekend, Brian Baldinger was absolutely raving about him.
I doubt the Giants go with that much youth unless they bring in someone like Gettleman or McCloughan as assistant GM or director of personnel, etc. It could work if DeFilippo agrees to bring in a OC or DC with HC experience.
Agreed I have no idea what the Giants see in Mike Smith. He is a solid coordinator but he shouldn't be a candidate for HC.
Seahawks and Falcons play fast and physical.

I thought they had everything until Bridgewater got hurt.
Building a team in that mold is what the Giants need, IMO. Play to the conditions of the northeast.

Belichick never won a SB without McDaniels. Just sayin'.
