Cardinals and Marlins apparently agreed to a trade including Stanton but he refused to waive his NTC to go to STL.
It had been previously reported in early November that this would be the case, but the teams negotiated nonetheless.
"cold stove" season continues.

The #Cardinals will not be acquiring Giancarlo Stanton. |
The Cardinals and their fans are insufferable. If you think Yankee and Boston fans are bad, Cardinal fans and their front office find it an affront if you don't want to be on their team.
You couldnt be more wrong
Let's go Cubbies?

Giants are out on Giancarlo Stanton. Cardinals are out, too. This is the worst-case scenario for the Marlins. Stantons no-trade clause has come back to bite them hard. And now, if they want to deal him, theyll need to eat at least $50M of the remaining $295M on his deal.
Yeah, that was my take. to sort of appease the fans and let them know you tried to improve the team, made the effort to land the big fish (no Marlin pun intended), but the big fish didn't want to come to your city.

To say that you tried and its not your fault he didn't want to come?

Wonder what Cards fans think of that. It just comes across as petty.
Exactly. If StL has any beef it shouldn't be with Stanton but with Loria and Jennings who not only gave him 325 mil, but the NTC, too.
But for the Dodgers to a lesser degree, but especially the Yanks, I don't understand the need.
Both have good young talent, and the Dodgers need the HR threat.
The Yanks have talent, a pipeline, and a new duo in Judge & Sanchez, plus a nice and future OF already with Frazier and others if the move on from steady Brett.
GS is almost overkill. Even if they move 1 or more from the OF pool to get a P,or try to fill other need, that's a big but to eat on a guy that could be great in a small market and fail with the media when somehow in a major slump(again I truly am not knocking the man and his talent).
I think its just a waste for the Yanks.
