Ryan Shazier’s career is most likely over. I hope I’m wrong and he makes a full recovery but my guess is he never plays another down of football. Shazier is in the 4th year of his rookie deal. As a 1st round draft pick The Steelers had the right to exercise a 5th year option on Shazier which they did back in April. As such, Shazoers 5th year is guaranteed for injury only for $8.7 Million. This will be the first time since the new CBA went into effect that the option guarantee will be utilized if Shazier is unable to play. Luckily for him if he is done, next year he will make $8.7 Million
