Good kid? Really? Gets arrested for public intoxication, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct while at Texas Tech. Transfers to Oklahoma. Proceeds to plant a flag at Ohio State, then grabs his crotch and flips the bird at Kansas? This is a good kid???? More like a classless Johnny Manzeil type. QB in NY? NO THANKS. Talented , yes but no way do I want to see him in a Giants Uniform. To go from the classiest of classy in Eli, to Mayfield? I shudder at the thought.
and would support him if we took him. But people do grow up and not everyone who’s an immature asshole is Johnny manziel.
He didn’t beat up women or do anything too awful for your typical college student. He’s got some growing up to do but if he’s vetted properly I’d support the pick.

Eh just a kid that likes to party a little and plays with a chip on his shoulder (as he should). I don’t think he’s as bad deep down as we think.

You may be right but from what I know of the Giants ownership, Mayfield is not the kind of guy they'd risk the face of the team with.
Agreed. Especially after everything that has happened this year. How much Mayfield's shenanigans should disqualify him are subject to legitimate debate, but i don't see the Giants using a top five pick on him for that reason alone. He's also only about 6'1". Rightly or wrongly, the Giants have size requirements at positions, and that is below what they typically want for a QB.

I think he's boom or busy but I love him. But I do think Mara will be even more image conscious now. The downside of 'bad' OBJ AND Bad mayfield would be ugly

You have absolutely no concept regarding what student athletes do on a weekly basis when it comes to regular life in college. Not to mention, those student athletes with enormous targets on their backs.
Did an extremely young walk on make mistakes? Absolutely.
Then did he proceed to turn it around to an unbelievable degree and work hard enough to win the Heisman Trophy and lead his team to the College Football Playoff?
∧ you're worried about a flag. And giving the finger?
Thank you.
Thank you for not being a candidate for the GM job.

Mayfield comes with red flags. No question about it. Giants will have gone through a nuclear winter by the time April and the draft roll around. Don't bet on them taking mayfield. Yes kids act like that in college but this is the qb. Drafting that type of personality at qb is a gamble for any franchise let alone one that has a rep for having stick firmly planted up ass....

This is an absurd dramatization. It’s perfectly reasonable for a multi billion dollar business (the Giants) to stay away from hitching their wagons to this kid. You may not agree, but the flags are real and it’s easily justifiable to pass on Mayfield.

By who's standards? Mara's? By time we pick we'll have a new regime in place (top to bottom) I'm sure those "standards" won't be set in stone, at that time.

Haha. OK bud.
And thank you for the parenthesis mention of the Giants and their billion dollar status. Very illuminating. I had no idea.
Are you 12 or just a douche. Learn how to have a discussion without throwing insults at an OPINION. Give me a break. Reading your posts where you think you are a know-it-all make laugh historically. I will say though. You are great entertainment

Quite frankly, you are wrong. He got a DUI, bad but it happens. He planted a flag? Ever here of team spirit? You do know the Service Academies try to kidnap the others mascots, right? and they have succeeded on numerous occasions.
Flips off the other team for not shaking hands at the coin toss? good for him. The uproar should be the DB captains that refused to shakes hands.
Got a new regime coming. I figure all of Reese's restrictions are gone with him. I like the way he plays. I doubt that John Mara objects after the embarrassment of the last 5 years. It is a new league.
He has a ton of drive. I think he'll be a successful NFL QB. One thing to keep in mind he's older and has better talent around him then Darnold, Jackson and Rosen.
If the Giants have a top 3 pick I'm picking the best long term option and i'm definitely picking a QB. If Darnold even comes out, I'm going Darnold, Rosen, Jackson in that order.
Jackon's game has dramatically improved this year while the talent around him has really let him down.
Baker would be a #1 pick for me, but I think he's at the back of the top 10 and I would pick Barkley or Nelson over him.
Eh just a kid that likes to party a little and plays with a chip on his shoulder (as he should). I don’t think he’s as bad deep down as we think.

Where did you see the Giants won’t draft him based on height? Just because they never have before? Had the Saints or Seahawks drafted a short WB before Brees and Wilson?
Granted I haven't been pay attention to him, but he wasn't in the top 3 vote getters. Was he even invited?
Did he get hurt?
He wasn't invited. Teams came into the game with the mindset "we cant let Barkley beat us." They put all their attention onto him. He still showed a couple times a game why hes such a special talent.
As good as i think he is tho, i wouldn't spend a top 3 pick on him
will be sorted out during numerous interviews and workouts. Honestly it doesn't bother me too much as I saw him apologize after the Kansas incident. He looked genuinely sorry for his actions as he clearly realized he messed up big time. I don't think he is a Manziel type of character. If the Giants agree with me after spending a lot of time with him then they should take him. Knowing Mara I doubt he would sign off on it though. Another reason to keep Eli around for a year would be to teach Mayfield how to be behave as the face of a franchise. Mayfield has the work ethic and desire to be great which is exactly what Manziel lacked.
I think Mayfield goes Top 10. I think Josh Allen goes Top 15. Jackson is the wild card to me.
I'm willing to bet Josh Allen goes top 5. I think he is going to rebuild his stock during the offseason. It wouldn't shock me if the Giants end up having him as their #2 prospect after Darnold when all is said and done.
His height is a non-issue.. he is the same height as Phil Simms was. Forget his past misdeeds that are not serious. I hate it when we get the PURITANS on here. What does that have to do what what occurs between the lines? Was LT a saint? He is not a drug addict as far as i know. Mayfield does not need a perfect O-line to win. So if you want to improve quickly he is the guy. Then you can still improve your o-line and he will be EVEN BETTER. He is a fierce Competitor and deserved the award as the best college player in the nation. He will make a major splash for some lucky team in the NFL who drafts him...and quickly.

This guy is like the mentally defective younger idiot cousin that Stanley adopted at the Long Beach swap meet. Y
Whatever.
