The next GM is....

Painless62 : 12/9/2017 9:43 pm
Dave Gettleman. The Giants really love Abrams, but can’t promote him just yet because the optics would be poor. Also, not sure if his talent evaluation is where it should be. Give Gettleman 5 years to set the team up and then promote from within with Abrams. Seems just like the Giants and actually not a bad idea. Gentleman seems like a great talent evaluator and won’t overpay for crap. I guarantee he wouldn’t have resigned that waste product JPP.
Holy shit,

Gettleman is fine as long as Marc Ross is gone. Ross needs to go, these drafts aren’t cutting it. Giants never seem to get anyone who contributes after the 2nd round, that needs to stop.
Wouldn’t be a fan

No disrespect to Gettleman but he’s not young. He also was here under Reese and worked with many of those in the front office equally responsible for the mess we are in.

While he did well cleaning up the salary cap mess Hurney left, he largely inherited the core of that team and I think benefitted from showing up as they were about to turn it around. His drafts were not that much better than ours the last five years.
It s a horrible thread
joeinpa : 12/9/2017 10:11 pm : link
Because someone expressed an opinion that another poster disagreed with.

That s the way things work around here for some.
Gettleman
djstat : 12/9/2017 10:13 pm : link
Is not a long term solution. He also FAILED in Carolina. He alienated players. A lot of them. Has a reputation of lousy communication skills. At 66, id rather see the team hirea GM who will be here for a while and bring a new style. Eliot Wolf is my top choice.

No. It's a horrible thread because saying "The GM is Gettleman " means the GM is Gettleman. The problem is the GM is not Gettleman. The GM has not been named yet.
haven't seen it reported yet

think so. My guess is the Giants go for a complete "reboot," and that includes a new GM and coach.
Why would the "optics" be poor to promote Abrams if they feel he can

They were actually far worse.

Horrible thread title. Which it is. It seems as if the Giants made a decision. He should have clarified it was his opinion. I am pretty sure that’s the mix up here.
I'll just say this,

Giants better not hire anyone from within. This Org has enough crap from the top down.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can figure out it’s just his opinion.

I agree, once reading the thread for sure. It’s the thread title that you can’t. It’s not a huge deal, I’m pointing out most likely what the complaint was about.

Haha. Do you not understand the difference between saying The next GM is Gettleman and something like The next GM should be Gettleman? If I didn't understand it was an opinion then I wouldn't have said it was a terrible thread. Anybody with a quarter of a brain cell could understand that. I would have wrote something like, "Where's a link?" Go back to bed. Show me where I didn't know it was an opinion ... exactly.
Of course they wil hire him,

I do not get the love on this board for Elliot Wolf. The Packers are a one player squad.I would look for someone from the Vikings,Eagles or Seahawk organizations.

The talk of Gettleman being a difficult person is probably wrong. One of my friends was a roommate of Gettleman when they were both single. He says he is a great guy and they have remained friends for many years.
Probably

The only time they’ve gone with someone not previously connected with the organization is when they were forced to.

I feel like this is a situation where they're almost forced to. The organization has failed.

The Panther DC Steve Wilks could be a HC favorite if Gettleman is hired.
so it sounds like it's Gettlemen

Gettlemen had an interesting departure from Carolina
Jimmy Googs : 12/10/2017 8:51 am : link
to say the least. If he does wind up being the guy, we are best served to have somebody be a good buffer between him and the locker room.

I think Cesario might have a better shot...

one big question I have is if
mdc1 : 12/10/2017 12:59 pm : link
the Giants choose Gettleman and an he accepts do they also provide him with the list of coaches he should hire?

Seriously, if he is selected what HC and staff would he bring here?

Interesting read about his firing in Carolina. May need some tougher players if he is here. Seems like his management style might make a few of our players here cry.
The next GM is...
