Did anyone see this? This is really scary.

He cleared concussion protocol after this happened and then tried to get back into the game but one of the assistants held him back.

he should've had his helmet taken away

Can’t afford another fuck up and yet here it is. How on earth was he allowed back in?
An independent doctor has to clear
UConn4523 : 12/10/2017 3:10 pm : link
the player right? So he was cleared than stopped by a coach who isn’t a doctor?

Man that is nuts.
Are you sure he was cleared?
robbieballs2003 : 12/10/2017 3:13 pm : link
I never heard that. He did try to get back on the field.

They gave him his helmet back - the assistant coach kept him from going back in.

Somehow he cleared protocol but if anyone on that sideline saw this, he should never have been given that helmet back.
That was hard to watch

How was he cleared to go back in? Whoever cleared him is in deep shit.
Part of the concussion protocol
UConn4523 : 12/10/2017 3:24 pm : link
is to review the video of the play by the unaffiliated UNC neurologist. Can this be any more negligent?
Just because he got his helmet doesn't mean he was cleared
robbieballs2003 : 12/10/2017 3:25 pm : link
though. I was watching on the Red Zone channel. I think we need to be patient and let the facts come out.

arcarsenal : 12/10/2017 3:27 pm : link
I'm not 100% sure how or why he got his helmet back, but as far as I know, you usually can't get it back until you're cleared.

They made it sound like he was.

I could be wrong - no problem waiting to let the facts come out on this - that was just really scary to watch.
If a player doesn’t pass protocol
UConn4523 : 12/10/2017 3:31 pm : link
they have to be escorted to the locker room. I’ll let the facts come out of course, but this doesn’t smell right so far.

It sounds like he got hit, reacted that way in the video, went back in for a couple of plays, then got evaluated again, tried going in again, and then finally he was taken out. If that is true how did he go back on the field after that initial hit for 2 plays?

That's what's really worrisome - I believe a ref saw him after that play. He should not have been allowed to return before being evaluated.
I just watched the video.
Boy Cord : 12/10/2017 10:13 pm : link
That was one of the most disturbing injuries I have ever seen in the NFL.
Oh man-that was gut wrenching to watch
TommytheElephant : 12/10/2017 10:19 pm : link
Poor guy. This game is so dangerous and the NFL needs to find a real solution if an independent doctor allowed him back in.
What the hell was that?

A seizure?

The medical staff for the Texans needs to be fired.

Just another example is a long, long list why I never steered my sons to football.

In the comment section of the Twitter a guy mentioned it was called a “fencing response” which is a bodies normal response to a concussion when the brain stem absorbs a shock... or something along those lines. A second poster seemed to agree and they both seemed level headed from what I could tell.
