If Giants want a QB..take Mayfield

Alwaysblue22 : 12/10/2017 6:19 pm
In leading Oklahoma to a third straight Big 12 title, and second appearance in the College Football Playoff, Mayfield produced the most efficient season by a quarterback in the sport’s history, ranking second in the nation with 4,340 yards passing and 41 touchdowns, and leading the country in completion percentage (71.0) and quarterback rating (203.8), while throwing just five interceptions....so why the hate? Why do people believe that Rosen, who cannot move like Eli.. or Darnold who looks awkward and needs to play more in College is better than this guy? He stays in the pocket most of the time , can side step the rush like Brady and Wentz and he will run when necessary. And he runs better than Wentz and Wilson. He can throw passes in tight windows ans can run a no huddle offense. He is also tough on the inside and outside. A real good football player.I think that he has the skills that a QB needs in todays NFL.He is more than a passer. He is a leader on the field.
Concerned about the gimmick offense. Also, this:

He doesn’t run better than Wilson
jeff57 : 12/10/2017 6:23 pm : link
And probably not Wentz
I still

want Darnold. I don't care about the funky release. He makes plays and is a leader.
He is short
Vanzetti : 12/10/2017 6:27 pm : link
has questionable arm strength and accuracy. Runs around in the pocket and takes his eyes off the receivers.

He is also not particularly bright.

He definitely seems to have the "it" factor in college. But that is college.

I think the chances of his becoming a top NFL QB are less than 20%. Possible but not likely imo.

think the crotch grab concern is nonsense. The Giants will be able to interview the kid, speak to coaches etc. Concern with the offense he played in, size etc are valid but a heat of the moment silly decision = non-factor to me.
I’ll take Rosen

Beautiful passes into tight windows.

I'm not worried about it either to be honest. It's just hilarious.

The main issue, if you watch the games, is just that he has all day to throw to wide open receivers. That isn't something that will translate.
Yes!
Miami_JintsFan : 12/10/2017 6:33 pm : link
Sign me up for Mayfield.

Questionable arm strength?

Whelp that disqualifies this bullshit.

Didn't read the rest.

Good lord there is a ton of stupidity in the world.
I like Rosen a lot
adamg : 12/10/2017 6:34 pm : link
But I'd take any of Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield. They all seem like they can be franchise guys. Of all the years to suck...

Jon,
Like I said there are very valid concerns in regard to Mayfield that are worth pointing out. But his coach absolutely raves about him as a person, maybe he's not Eli Manning clean as a whistle but grabbing his crotch in a heated game really shouldn't be a major talking point. I'm not condoning it but he's a competitor and did something silly. I don't see any evidence he's scumbag etc

Right Engram blocks like Mark Bavaro and has had nothing but great games. Mayfield has a rifle like Elway. And Henrik Lundquist has not lost anything.

How many whiskeys do you have when watching the games? Because nobody could come up with this dumbass shit sober.

Watch his game against Ohio St. That translates . One of those guys he torched-Ward - will be a top 10 pick in this draft. Their Dline couldn't shut down his passing lanes , even with their length .
Let's see what he has against a real defense

Georgia lead by Kirby Smart. Then you will know if he just ran amok in a conference that grabs jerseys and show no evidence of turf or grass stains.

You're unhinged. And as usual, you make no sense.

Bavaro? Elway? Wtf are you babbling about, weirdo?

The character stuff doesn't bug me... I could see Mayfield being really good. His size worries me a little - but not enough to totally scare me away.

Tough calls with the QB class.

Jackson is still the most exciting to me.

Given that you're consistently wrong, outspoken and pretty stupid, I'm glad you said that. Because you're dead wrong, he's the best QB in this class and the 2nd best player bar none.

A good case can be made

for and against Rosen/Darnold/Jackson/Mayfield. Allen...not so much.

I hope our Giants pick the best one.
A lot of fans would love a hot-tempered QB.

I love him as a player
AcesUp : 12/10/2017 8:49 pm : link
But his on-field personality reminds me a lot of OBJ. That kind of passion can be a double-edged sword and having two of those guys as the face of your offense is a huge risk in this market. They really have to do their homework on him.
Odell's not been arrested for public drunkeness and disorderly conduct
Vanzetti : 12/10/2017 9:01 pm : link
huge difference

BM's onfield gesture is not that big a deal. Heat of the moment. But the arrest is a huge red flag

You can’t seriously question Baker’s accuracy or arm strength. He is an excellent passer. I wonder if you’ve even watched him after making that comment.
