Frank or not the Knicks should look into Fred VanVleet in the off-season. Very underrated, nice player. He and Kyle Anderson are 2 players I'd be eying this off-season (well aware of the cap situation) #Knicks

Frank and Ron Baker both solid contributors, who'd thunk it.

Chicken will come home to once the road schedule kicks in. Hopefully the Knicks learn how to win on the road. Even if it takes a month or so with some more growing pains it would be great if they sort of get their sea legs and gain some much needed experience.

Frank seems to slowly be making progress, offensively. Maybe...

Was thinking earlier that despite the recent struggles and likely future struggles still to come this season I think we'd all take this start. KP is beasting more often than not. Frank is playing and showing something. Hardaway looked good before the injury. Lee gaining trade value, etc. Plus you have the bulls on pace to finish with the worst record giving the Knicks a great second round pick. All in all not bad the only bummer would have to be the hardaway injury. Hopefully not a terrible one long term.
I REALLY want a lottery pick, but outside of the Sixers,
shockeyisthebest8056 : 12/11/2017 2:09 am : link
is anyone else in the East a threat to make the playoffs ahead of the Knicks (currently 8th)? Maybe Miami. I actually thought Orlando's record was better than what it actually is.

Watching Ayton, Bagley, and Sexton this weekend... those guys are freakin' good. If Doncic is really in their class, then he must be special too.

they are what, one game better than the Knicks? Two? Last I checked they were two games over 500 and the Knicks are 500.

Difference is the Sixers are beyond loaded with young talent. Not a single GM in the NBA takes the Knicks over the Sixers over the next 3-4 seasons. That's not being debbie downer just being realistic/fair.

roster is absolute garbage, I was impressed with how hard they play despite this.

-Baker played very well

-Lee was an absolute zero. Didn't even notice him on the court.

-Funny exchange Breen crapping on Beasley, Clyde then defending Beasley's defense (last night not in general) and Breen agrees with him lol

-KOQ played an excellent game, really challenged at the rim, I know his miscues are often harped on but I thought he was an unsung hero.

-I'd like to keep McBuckets if the price is right

Problem is the Knicks have had an absurdly friendly schedule so far - 17 games at home and 9 on the road. We are 1-8 on the road and lost to the Bulls on the road. If you evened the schedule out we are probably somewhere around 9-17, maybe 10-16, and one of the worst teams in the East.

Unless we dramatically improve on the road this team isn't going to sniff the playoffs.

Sixers also have a surplus of draft picks and cap space going forward. Knicks have neither. We've also played a million home games.

at times but he's shown just enough to give hope that he turns into an above average starter. Hopefully this happens sooner rather than later or else this team is going to need another PG to give them 20 mins a game next year.

Hield 17 and 3 (very quietly he's become a very nice NBA player)

-Tatum 11 and 4, kid is going to be a star. I pegged his upside as a very nice player ie Tobias Harris, I look wrong, he could be a big time player (not that Harris isn't very good)

-Trey Lyles having a breakout year, Phil scoffs at us!

-Oladipo becoming a star, 47 last night

-Not a good year for the Hernangomez brothers, both have fallen out of the rotations of their teams (Willy more so than Juancho)

-I am far from an NBA expert but the Mavs have the rare player putting up numbers who I have never even heard of Maximillian Kleber 8 and 6 on 57% from the field last 5 games

-Towns is "ho-hum" great. He's the underrated (in terms of publicity) superstar ala Duncan

-Butler has been a beast lately

-Simmons is pretty incredible

don't have a ton of ammo but New Orleans should try and make a big move at the deadline. That's a very dangerous team. If I were one of the contenders I wouldn't want to face them in a series.

Once Jack showed he had something left, this team was never really in danger of being too lousy. There's just too many decent vets on the roster: Kanter, Lee, Hardaway, KOQ, etc. As long as they continue to get competent PG play out of Jack and decent mins from Frank, they should compete for a low seed.
Does
DanMetroMan : 12/11/2017 11:24 am : link
it really matter what he says? Outside of dealing Lee and/or KOQ what exactly is "tanking" when you have X roster? Does anyone expect them to begin benching KP? If not the Knicks will win X amount of games tank or not.

Really? They are 1-8 on the road and just lost to the Bulls. The only reason taney are .500 right now is because they have placed twice as many home games as road games.

How the hell are they going to compete for a low seed if they can't even compete on the road?

depends on Hardaway IMO. If he comes back strong they can hang around on the back end of the playoff race. If this injury lingers for a while, then they aren't going to be doing much of anything.

Oh I agree. But they haven't exactly set the world on fire just yet. Really the sixers have one more player that i'd kill for in Simmons or Embid. They have two we have one.

About 38 wins? Maybe they scratch for 500. They won't get better on the road overnight so i'd expect a brutal January but maybe they streak later on and get close to 42 wins or so. IF I had to guess i'd say 40. That might be generous maybe not. A lot also depends on Hardaway's health.
The Knicks aren't exactly a team with Warriors-level depth.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 12/11/2017 12:20 pm : link
Nearly every road loss they've had over the past month involved KP, Kanter, and/or THJ not playing. They can get away with that at home, but definitely not on the road, even against bad teams. As good as they've been at home, they only need to win 10 games on the road to legitimately compete for a playoff spot. But losses to the Bulls and Hawks certainly don't help that cause regardless of who's missing.

Sure but if we had an Embiid or Simmons WITH KP, BBI Knicks fans would have a collective boner (and that's without the extra picks and other young talent they have).
