The good news...

Matt M. : 12/11/2017 12:37 am
SF won again, placing the Giants firmly in the #2 draft spot. Denver and Chicago also won, to get them off our heels. Hey, there has to be something positive, right?
No, there doesn't have to be something positive.
BlackLight : 12/11/2017 12:39 am : link
And if it is positive, it'll be a couple years before we figure it out.
Hey...I'm not one who has been interested in the draft slot
Matt M. : 12/11/2017 12:41 am : link
But, if you're going to lose, it might as well yield something...

You must be fun at parties
I was hoping the Colts would tie

or win in overtime.
The Colts got screwed
mdthedream : 12/11/2017 6:44 am : link
They made the two point conversion for the win but it got taken away. Game went into overtime and lost.
Needed Browns

something very positive

I've mentioned in a few threads how in 80 I was rooting for the Giants to lose at the end of the season to secure the highest pick possible.

That 2 overall pick was L.T. Had they won another game, they would have lost L.T. As it was they only got him because the Saints were foolish enough to pass.

I rooted for the Giants to lose at the end of 03 for the same reason,

They got Eli. I would say those were very positive things to come from this season.

I have a very different take from most of the board.\\ I think think this is an exciting time.

New GM and coach. Also a very good chance at the next franchise quarterback.

If LT were on the board today

The Puritans on this bard with lump him with Baker Mayfield. and say no way Jose. A bad dude who is a CHARACTER concern. How about winning foot ball games? Do you really give a F___K if a player goes to church on Sunday. As long as he is not beating up women or snorting Coke ( WHICH LT DID BY THE WAY> he did coke and hookers) who gives a dam. Oh look mommy he grabbed his crotch...oohhh we cant have someone like that.. we need the spindly legged Josh Rosen who appears to have braces on both knees. The Joe Namath of today. Who, by the way is considered intellectually arrogant by his teammates. How long do you think he will last on this team before being carried off on a stretcher? I want a tough football player who was a walk on and defied the odds because that is what the Giants do not have enough of and who Reese never drafted...he liked Athletes. Davis Webb lost his starting job at Texas Tech to Baker Mayfield and had to transfer to Cal. Then Mayfield went to Oklahoma because of the Puritans and tried out for their football team without an invitation and won that job....now he is the Heisman Trophy Winner. What does that tell you about his ability as a football player?

I guess EliMobster is back. I don't have a problem with Baker Mayfield's character, I have questions about how his game translates to the next level. I've yet to see him make throws outside the numbers consistently, and he gets nervous with defenders at his feet. Those are legitimate concerns, whether you want to admit it or not.

your making the point for everyone that doesn't want Baker Mayfield. It's ok for your safety or lineman or WR to be a clown and LT was the most impactful defensive player of all time...but you can't have those actions from your QB. He needs to be the first in and last out. He needs to lead men. LT was a leader on the field but if LT personality was in a QB's body that player would fail big time.

Your QB needs to be your rock, Mayfield is too much of a headcase to take that high especially throwing in his physical limitations.
Interviews will decide where Mayfield goes
Jay on the Island : 12/11/2017 10:25 am : link
With the PR nightmare the Giants created with the Eli benching they will likely pass on Mayfield either way. I don't think Mayfield is a bad kid and I don't get the Manziel comparisons. Manziel obviously doesn't love football he loved to party. Mayfield loves football and works his ass off on and off the field.
And had the Giants lost a couple more games in 2013...
ShockNRoll : 12/11/2017 10:26 am : link
they may have wound up with Sammy Watkins instead of Odell Beckham. You never really know how these players are going to be once they get into the NFL. Sammy Watkins is a nice player, but he's not a generational talent like Odell is. I will be rooting for the Giants to win this Sunday to do some damage to the Eagles chances of having home field (though that seems to be a near certainty with their win over the Rams, and NO/MIN both losing), and I'll root for wins on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve as well. Whether or not I root for them to win or lose doesn't impact the fact that they are probably even worse than the Browns, but the way I see it, I get 16 Sundays a year to watch my team. I am not going to root for them to lose so they can get a better draft pick. They are guaranteed to finish in either 2nd or 3rd position now anyway, so I see no sense in hoping they lose.

I was too young to remember for myself, but I don't recall ever reading about character issues for LT when we drafted him.

There were none that I can remember. I was 17 at the time. Different era though, it was easier to keep things quiet if need be,
Watkins was a sure thing

Really? I’ve seen him make throws across the field, off balanced into 1-2 foot windows. He does get a lot of time, but his ability to make any throw is proven at this point.
