I'm amazed by the narrative being put out by the media after yesterday's game. Apparently, Prescott was great, and Eli was bad. Even though with 10 minutes left in the game, he and Eli's stat line were pretty comparable.
Dak Prescott 16/26 174 1 0
Eli Manning 21/31 173 1 0
Prescott completes his last four passes for 158 yards: a 3 yard pass to Smith, a 54 yard pass to Beasley, a 20 yard pass to Witten for a touchdown, and an 81 yard pass to Smith for a TD. But the passes to Beasley was a short pass that the WR nearly took to the house, and the pass to Smith was a short pass that the RB did take to the house.
Look at the play-by-play, and it's littered with "Prescott pass short..." Prescott threw the ball in the air more than 20 yards twice all game. There was the drop by Bryant, and the Witten touchdown. I'd love to know how much of Prescott's passing yardage came after the catch, because I'm sure it was easily 2/3 of his yardage.
As for Eli's last 10 minutes, he goes 10/15 for 55 yards and 2 INTs. I put little stock in the two picks, because being down two and three scores under four minutes left, you have to force the ball. The first pick was a tipped ball, and the second pick was on a 3rd and long set up by an offensive penalty two plays earlier. He also had a third down pass that should have been pass interference.
Ultimately, I thought both QBs was OK. Neither did anything exceptional. Both dealt with receivers who couldn't seem to catch a football. But thanks to two plays with big yards after the catch, and two garbage time interceptions, Prescott was great and Eli was bad.
Should we not acknowledge when one team's QB makes plays to win games while the other makes plays to lose it?
Have we reached a level where "mostly" the same is actually the same?
Exactly. You can't have it both ways. Sure, Dak had guys at his side who could make plays, and other than Engram, Eli did not. The Giants needed Eli to step up and make plays, and for the most part, he didn't do it. Missing Ellison downfield early hurt, as did missing Vereen down the sideline late. Make one of those plays, and it's a different ballgame, make both, and it's a win.
2) There's a reason why they play 60 minutes and not 50, so you can't just throw away the final 10 minutes of the game because it diverged so significantly.
3) The Cowboys are 7-6; the Giants are 2-11. QBs get too much credit when their teams win and too much blame when their teams lose.
Who was the starting OL again for the Giants?
Powe gets his first NFL catch and promptly breaks foot. Shep dropping passed. This team is a mess.
Eli still needed to play better.
This offense is a dink and dunk joke, especially when it takes three completions to produce a first down......
I will say one thing though, this offense is set up to fail.....too many times, passes are completed to receivers that just turn around an stop....how in the world are you going to get YAC with that, when the defense is bunched up and not spread out, with no deep threat?
The other problem with these passes, are Eli's accuracy on short passes.....he is just not good at it....he gets short completions where guys have to reach back, jump , or dive for the ball.....he does not hit them in stride most of the time.....as an example, look at the TD pass to Ellison......he was open, the defender was trailing him, and yet Eli's short pass was such that Ellison had to dive at the goal line to get it.....if the defender had just touched him instead of waiting to tackle him, he would have been downed before the goal line, and no td......Eli is just not accurate with these kind of throws....never has been....
Would be a little too creative for the Giants I guess.
I don't get giving him a pass for the interceptions.
It's tradition 'round here.

Don’t know about Webb but with Mayfield or Rosen we won’t have to worry about the in stride stuff or the short stuff from what I’ve seen .... those guys can spin it accurately...

If only you took out the clutch game winning plays, Dek had a worse game.
Get out of here with that.
But what pisses me off about Eli came on the third and 12 decision . The Cowboys came with a balanced 4-man rush. Phil Simms used to wait for a receiver to get to the fucking sticks. He got hit a lot. His passing rating seldom reached 90. Eli dinked over to the right sideline. 9 yard game. A successful play as far as the rating goes. A concession- shit play as far as the game went.
I thought the Oline did fine yesterday. And we really only were missing OBJ.
Would be a little too creative for the Giants I guess.
Shane Vereen sucks, someone could make a compilation video of all his big plays as a Giant and the video would be fifteen seconds long.
Once he was benched I don't see a reason to bring him back other than to placate the fans.. but placating the fans is not going to help this team win in the future.. Seeing what Webb can do will help... even if he sucks..Heck even Geno is young enough..

Did you get a look at the D on that play, there was literally no one in the middle of the field!
