Let's talk crazy

Thegratefulhead : 12/11/2017 11:26 am
Crazy trade discussion.

If talking about things that are extremely unlikely get your knickers in a wad stop reading. If you would rather talk 2-11 go for it.

Now for something a little bit different.

Offseason moves.

Trade OBJ to San Francisco for their number 1 this year and a number 2 next year. OBJ wants the biggest contract in the league, SF has the money. They have their QB now, OBJ would be hard for them pass on. I do not want to tie that much money into a WR.

Trade Eli to Jax for whatever we can get.

Trade JPP for anything we can get.

Trade Eli Apple for anything we can get.

Draft the best QB we can and Barkley.

Use the cap saving to rebuild the OL in FA(Best available plus depth, we need OL depth, they get hurt.) Drafting OL seems to be a crap shoot.

Use all current Draft slots and newly acquired on DL and LBs, 2nd, 3rd , 4th and 5th

What do you think?

What is your crazy scenario?
This ain't

Fantasy Football!
JPP won't have any trade value due to his contract
Jay on the Island : 12/11/2017 11:44 am : link
Apple would net a conditional late round pick so the best decision would be to bring him back and hope the new HC and DC can toughen him up. They should re-sign Cockrell as he has been a solid addition to the secondary and would provide insurance in the event that Apple doesn't turn it around.

I would keep Beckham unless they were offered the package you suggested which is highly unlikely coming off an injury.

Take Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, or Allen in the 1st round and BPA between the OL, DE,and RB in round 2.
That IS crazy!
old man : 12/11/2017 11:45 am : link
Gonna take a while to match that.
I WOULD add OV to yours.
And Jackrabbit may want out...and there's an OUT for the team on 1/1.
Crazy or insane

The biggest issues right now with this roster:

1. What to do with Eli
2. What to do with OBJ
3. rebuild the O Line
4. Find NFL LB's
5. Find a pass rush
6. Do we keep Eli Apple

I think if Eli stays it will be a compromise of sorts for Eli. He will have to restructure his contract, maybe take a paycut. How can we build an O line with the amount of cap space we have? The other option is to release or trade him.

2. I really don't think Odell is going anywhere. Who ever the GM is has to know what a freak he is and what he means to the offense. Plus ownership sees $ signs with ticket sales and jersey sales. OBJ gets a monster deal.

3. This is the key vision of the next GM. How to turn this O Line into a viable unit. Much to the dismay of Giant fans, Flowers will be a part of the solution next year. I don't like John Jerry but he is a better LG than RG. I think the Key to the turn around is the Right Side. Jones is a RFA and should return. I like Jonathan Cooper or Amini Silatolu for RG with Michael Schofield at RT. Draft Price from Ohio State in round 2. Wheeler, Hart, Bisnowaty provide depth. Maybe a LT can be found in rounds 2 or 3.

4. I like Hitchens from Dallas as a free agent addition. He is a 3 down LB who can cover and tackle and is young. Maybe a draft pick as well. Goodson and Munson will be back. Kennard is serviceable and can also rush on 3rd down.

5. The pass rush is one of the biggest problems this past season. Avery Moss will hopefully take a step forward. A ton of money is already invested in Vernon and JPP. Okwara can hopefully provide something. This unit simply needs to play better.

6. Eli Apple is a quitter. I hope the new GM trades him right after signing his contract. Cockrell and Dixon are better players. Keep DRC with Jenkins and draft a corner in rounds 4 or 5.
This plan basically sounds like sell everyone we have that other
PatersonPlank : 12/11/2017 12:09 pm : link
teams would want, and stay with all the players who are useless plus rookies. This in my opinon, would guarantee that we are like the Browns for a few years as we rebuild. I'm not sure that we need to go to this depth. An OL player or two, a RB, get OBJ back, and get a LB on D, and I Think we're back.
Why would we trade Beckham at his lowest value?
FStubbs : 12/11/2017 12:09 pm : link
Right now we'd get a 3rd for him because he's coming off of injury.
We'd take a $5.25m cap hit on JPP
BillT : 12/11/2017 12:15 pm : link
And a $4.8m cap hit on Apple. So.....no.
I would trade Eli if we draft a QB
weeg in the bronx : 12/11/2017 12:17 pm : link
He would get something in return. I would cut JPP. Apple is only 22, lets see what happens.

As for OBJ, Bill Cowher mentioned him two weeks on the pregame during the whole Manning fiasco. The question he asked is what is the philosophy and attitude of the team going forward. He made a clear distinction between manning and OBJ. So now if Manning does go, is OBJ the leader in the huddle? Are people following his lead?

I would be with you on 2 if he had not said multiple times that he wants to be the highest paid player in the league regardless of position...nope. Not for a WR, his game is built on speed/elusivenss. Wrong injury and that is gone in a flash. We have seen it first hand. Cruz or Nicks would have killed us for half a decade had they been the highest paid player in the league...nope don't want it. try to get a Hershel haul for him right now and do a draft that makes us contenders for a decade.

You crazy bruh, OBJ on open market would net lot more than a 3rd. teams that think they are one special player away would open the bank. I think SF is an ideal spot for him. So much cap room, Have their QB, they will draft noone at 2/3 that will improve their team more than OBJ.

I wonder briefly about assholes like you. I see many threads that I don't want to participate in, or do not agree with, but, I never think, self you need to jump in the thread and call someone names and tell the to STFU offering nothing.
I figure you must have an insignificant or terribly miserable life, maybe both. Go play with your little pecker for 90 seconds, you might forget who you are for 60, it probably be the best part of your day. Cheers

Totally uncalled for.
No one is trading for our highly paid guys
Go Terps : 12/11/2017 1:17 pm : link
The guys that have trade value are in the next tier of years in the NFL: Beckham, Collins, Shepard, Engram, Tomlinson. Guys that are contract controlled...though Beckham and Collins are soon exiting that status.

It's crazy...and not. When you think salary cap first thing you look at are the contracts. Are the worth it? If I could get a 7 for JPP and someone would take that contract, yay us. Unlikely, just cut him then, he makes no plays when it matters. Eli is not worth 20 million, he needs to take a pay cut or we need to trade him. Apple, is anyone dumb enough to give us something for him, take anything. I am successful manager in RL. You get people like Apple off your team as soon as humanly possible, I'm the owner so I can.

OBJ is tough because he is real talent. I have been against this until now. I think it will be franchise suicide to make him one of the highest paid players in the league with guaranteed money. You think he is an entitled spoiled brat now? Fuck, give the kid more influence over franchise...no no and more no. That contract negotiation will be in the public and a shit show. We will have to let players go to keep him, salary cap is math, it will not make him popular with his teammates. Get what you can now.

Is sound the timing needs to be correct. First you would have to trade OBJ prior to the draft what you can get for him is a first and future production scaled pick starting with a third and going up. OBJ is a special talent without the injury and our sorry production at QB and his suspect behavior he could ask for part ownership. The JPP, DRC, Vernon and Jackrabbit trades would be very limited returns but if it’s a full rebuild see what the market offers and just pray someone wants two or three of them.

Now to the draft look at the first eight picks how many teams need a QB 3-4 including us. Cleveland will draft one we are then on the clock trade down with Denver 1st, two seconds 2018, 2019 and third 2018. 49ers are a lock to keep Garoppolo no need to draft another QB not sure who they will pick. You now have two 1st, two 3rds, two 4ths supplemental here is were you have to say who is still on the board and based on your desire and BPA value do you trade down again no later than the 7th pick? How badly does the next team drafting want someone still on the board? It could be simply the fear you apply to the guys behind that you have an offer see what happens you are not locked in to make a pick but at this point nothing less than an additional 3rd in 2018 or second in 2019.

At this point you still control the QB market until like pick 8/9 Colts and Bengals being the only wild cards at QB but presently only two QB’s are off the board. This is where the real gamble begins and your BPA board has to really be sound who is your top value guy at this point HB, QB, DE or OL? I’m going to Pick Allen at 6-10 not sure what the offers I might get but it will always be a one pick at a time move down if not he is my pick. He has the most upside for the NFL of all these guys just missing the big stage element all the others have.

At this point Eli News of the draft Giants looking for a 1st or 2nd round pick for Eli but in the end accept a 3rd 2018 and future consideration. Once again much needed to happen prior to this but his desire to start works for and against him at this point. The OBJ pick is somewhere in the top 12/15 not looking for a replacement for him at this point looking at DL, OT.

Presently you still have six picks left in rounds two to four at least depending on the Vets trade returns looking at 1 WR, 1 RB, 1 OC, 1 OG, 1 OT or DE depending on the 1st, 2nd or third round pick return dream for Eli plus future considerations this has to be a must in any trade of him. This is the full rebuild plan on this team maybe 10 NFL players are left and possibly two to three high quality vets. Don’t waste your money on UFA for every one that works out twenty just eat for free at your table. As for our UFA they brought you a 2-4 wins season what does that say about them? Draft the kids coach them up but most importantly get them on the field nothing is learned by standing on the sidelines.

Uh....... yeah

Thanks, this exactly the kind of discussion I was looking for. Tired of all the is Eli done stuff. I know we cannot get out from under all the bad contracts but if we can get out from Eli/JPP/Apple and not lock up all that salary in OBJ we could contend for a while. If OBJ would take a contract that makes about the third highest paid receiver in the league I would not be a rush to trade, but highest paid player in the NFL, no fucking way.
I get the feeling
