I'm no CBA expert, but I've been thinking a lot about practice. Specifically, practice, a daily NFL schedule, and coaching young guys up.
I've read on BBI that Davis Webb is really a work in progress, and needed to learn how to take snaps under center. I get that. My question is this:
Under the CBA, can Webb work one-on-one with a coach during the week outside of an official team practice? For example, could Webb's average work day consist of going to practice, watching film, etc....and then spending extra time at the facility working one-on-one with a coach to learn all those fundamentals? Take 50 snaps under center every day? Throw 50 balls to a practice squad guy? Is that allowed under the CBA or is that considered "practice?"
Maybe he does that now, I really don't know. But I know the CBA is somewhat limiting in terms of practice time (why OLs aren't as good as they've been, for example). I suppose I'm really wondering what constitutes practice and what does not.

Limiting the practice time is one of the cards the player's union has to play.
I wonder if it may be frowned upon by some of the veterans if players are giving away practice time for free.
Thanks. Interesting stuff. I knew that about training camp, but I wondered about in-season practice. From the sound of it, doesn't sound like it's permitted either.
