strict moral code of who they would and would not draft?

Most teams - Giants included - try to avoid drafting guys with character concerns, but nobody only drafts choir boys. Every decision like that is done on a case-by-case basis.

Well, Accorsi spelled out pretty well in "The GM" the conversation with Collins before they signed him. He also went back as far as Collins' junior high school and got plenty of people to vouch for his character. And that is why Charles Way worked for the Giants for 14 years after his playing career, while Phillippi Sparks is best known for being the father of Jordin Sparks.
