that just doesn't result in much as far as pass rush is concerned. I don't hold lack of sack numbers against Harrison because that isn't his primary job, but Vernon's primary job is to get to the QB - which he doesn't do (unless late for a 15 yard penalty counts).

I did not realize a player can get an $85 million contract with $52.5 million guaranteed just for effort. His production has not come anywhere close to what the expectations were.
are both very disappointing in a very disappointing season. Vernon occasionally shows some hustle and makes the occasional play. JPP exerts ALL his effort running on and off the field.

I tend to agree. 2 of our highest paid players could be very good in the 3-4, Snacks and Vernon. Snacks is a great NT and Vernon has experience playing in a 2 point stance. JPP doesn't get heat off the edge enough IMO and is better against the run. He looks heavy and is more of a 5 Tech to me. If Tomlinson could learn the 5 Tech it would be a matter of adding another OLB with Pass Rush ability. Even Avery Moss looks like more of an OLB.
If it makes our defense more effective then it should be explored.

When was Vernon ever elite, NEVER, is the answer. He is almost a bust signing when you look at what he is getting paid, he stinks for the money. You don't pay a guy like a franchise DE and get this production unless you are Jerry Reese and you have blown 4 drafts in a row. This is just starting with what Reese has done to this franchise, this is the tip of the iceberg, it is going to get real fucking dark around here when the new group is here and tries to fix this fucking mess.
