People always remember the Eagles beating us in the playoffs in 2008 as sort of a fluke given how well we played in the regular season. But in truth, the game that led to that slide was an innocent regular season game in which we had already virtually locked up the division. The night plax shot himself, we went to Washington and it was business as usual--we won easily. When the dust settled and the frenzy started our next game was a Sunday afternoon game against the Eagles at home in early December. They were struggling (i think they had tied the bengals the week before) and were considered dead. They came into our building and beat us and the panic started to creep in. We got anihalated the next week in Dallas, had a nice comeback victory over the panthers and lost to the Vikings in a meaningless game. We then lost to the Eagles after the bye in the playoffs. We were never the same and a special season was ruined. Now, obviously it was our fault that plax did what he did and we played like we played, but I always remembered that Sunday afternoon game in early December against the eagles and have always thought that that was the day where the special season started to spiral downward on the field.
Anyway, the Eagles are better than us with or without wentz at this point, and unlike the Eagles in 08, we have no chance to salvage our season--but man, I would love to wreck theirs. By putting doubt into them and raising panic that there is no life after Wentz maybe we can help be the catalyst that wrecks their special season. Let's beat them Sunday!!
Wasn't that the playoff game though, not the early December regular season game?
No, ruining their special season would and this Sunday is a huge game for their confidence--and anyone who doesn't think so is kidding themselves. If they lose to us, they are going to be in full panic mode. That's what we want if we want the trophy case to remain empty (or empty of Lombardis)
I thought we had a huge drop in the playoff game early on as well. I really remember Brian Westbrook just going off on us in the December game
I wanted to punch him. I then said " Well Simms has 2 rings and Eagles have none".
I would love for the Giants to beat Philly and take out Foles.
please.
Just doesn't seem likely to me
God that pissed me off.
The weird thing about that game is I remember it like as if it were yesterday. The old stadium and losing to a loser Eagle team who didn't even belong there was sickening but I would take that any day after being defending Super Bowl champions over any game I went to this year... except for the two that the Giants won.
You left out Sterling Shepard, Evan engram, Rodger Lewis Jr, in the wonderful bang-up job pass protection done by the New York Giants offensive line!
The Giants suck. They're not going to beat the Eagles even without Wentz.

If memory serves me, the playoff game we had a big pass play to SS and Eli dropped it way short. And that was pretty much it. Team fell apart from there.
Dink and Dunk is just not cutting it....
31 completion but only 3 of them over 10 yards?
I am doing email instead of giving the game my complete attention.....have never done that before....
Remember, the Giants came out in ultra-quick tempo and would not let the Eagles pass rushers gear up.
Of course, we did that last week vs. DAL so maybe it wasn't Ben's idea.
But it worked, and that Eagles D didn't do squat.
So not quite sure it would be payback for 2008.
Last home game I was at. Knew it was going to be a shitty day after that, though the blocked FG return was a brief glimmer of hope.
The last TD in that game was irrelevant garbage.
I wish every season was 2008 or more like it. Came and went like a flash. That was the game with the big Hixon drop I think.
Hixon had a big catch vs Philly in the playoff game. Coulda maybe had a chance to win that game if Kearny didn't miss two FGs.
I'm all for football talk and fair is fair... but man, that game was a gift to Philly. They did absolutely nothing special in that game but get lucky Plaxico wasn't there.
Wait, how does this garbage year have anything to do with 2008?
Bizarre to think that inferior team came and won a playoff game against the Giants in that same season. They needed about 3 teams to win that last week and of course, got their way. Thanks a lot, Plax.
Nah. Our defense was too banged up and that Arizona team was red hot. It’s possible but we were running on fumes at that point.
I guess that's what happens when your team is a high seed for once, you think that you're sitting on top of the NFL and anyone with a worse record than yours has no chance. I'm willing to make a bet that's how all those other teams fans felt when they kept losing to the 10-6 Giants in the playoffs the year prior.
Arizona? in January? On the east coast? Even if Giants squeak by Philly - which they could've- I still like the chances of the Giants winning that one. I think Philly and everyone just got lucky Plax shot himself. Philly's defense got abused by Burress, the same way they did by Fitzgerald in that game.
That Minnesota team Philly beat was nothing special either. Just a weird ending to a great season.
Eagles have their own problems, can't see Foles taking them all the way, so why bother. At this point a loss will suit this team better, play the scrubs.
