Uniform Question.

Tark10 : 12/11/2017 5:14 pm
Why would the Giants wear road colors when playing a home game?
Why not?

Throw back Uni's. Chance to sell merch.
As I understand it,
81_Great_Dane : 12/11/2017 5:17 pm : link
Sunday's colors were dictated by the league, since every team has to wear their color rush uni once over the season.

Parcells would put the Giants in white at home against the Cowboys because there was this idea that Dallas always wore white and being in blue threw them off.
I love those throw backs
Jay on the Island : 12/11/2017 5:22 pm : link
I wish that could be our away jersey.
Those unis were the highlight of the year...
bw in dc : 12/11/2017 5:23 pm : link
I loved them.

I detest the current design.
Those should be the road unis

+1. The Giants have done this to Dallas many times over the years.
They are called color rush
Jason in OR : 12/11/2017 5:35 pm : link
every team plays one game in an alternate uniform, ours were awesome most are hideous.
I would say they are the best Color Rush uniforms
Rjanyg : 12/11/2017 7:12 pm : link
Mainly because the throwback concept mixed in. Most teams just make the jersey pant and socks the same color but by going all white as opposed to all blue it allows the resurrection of the 80-99 road uniform, but with the brighter Blue helmet.

Other color rush uniforms I like are Buffalo, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, LA Chargers.
Uniforms were awesome
Breeze_94 : 12/11/2017 7:45 pm : link
would love to see those become the permanent road uniforms and use those helmets for home.
I like them only because
bluepepper : 12/11/2017 10:55 pm : link
all white as color-rush is basically giving the finger to the league. White is NOT what the NFL had in mind for this.
great uniforms

I'm biased, but I think they are the best color rush jerseys. It's unfortunate you can't order custom ones.
I don't think the league cares as long as they sell.
Ten Ton Hammer : 12/11/2017 11:05 pm : link
And they do.
I love the throwback whites
Allen in CNJ : 12/12/2017 4:42 am : link
last time they wore them at home was the home opener against the Cowboys in 87'.

Historically, many teams wore their whites at home against the cowboys to "turn them around" and wear the navy blue jerseys which they used to really never wear more than once or twice a season, always on the road.

Recently, the Cowboys have worn the blues at home on Thanksgiving to start a new tradition of sorts so those uniforms are seen a bit more.

I think we should wear the whites at home every season against the Cowboys - it's a nice change of pace!!

Poor Ray Perkins. The guy never gets credit for anything.

Yeah I believe this started in 1981, and the Giants beat the Cowboys 13-10 on a Danelo Field Goal. Went to the play offs for the first time in 17 years.
The uncanny thing
Powerclean765 : 12/12/2017 9:23 am : link
is the Giants seem to lose every f#cking time they wear alternate jerseys.

Can anyone remember when they won in the reds?

They lost in the whites last year to the Eagles and again this year to the Cowboys.

It's quite ridiculous.
I think they won one game in the reds
Greg from LI : 12/12/2017 10:01 am : link
The overall record is pretty awful
In 2005
BrianLeonard23 : 12/12/2017 10:17 am : link
They beat Dallas at home in the red jersey.

Also in 2005 they played the Saints at Giants Stadium because of Katrina, and wore the road white and won the game. It was considered a Saints home game so...partial credit?
News flash
lawguy9801 : 12/12/2017 12:27 pm : link
It does not matter what color the Giants wear, and it has no effect on whether they win or lose the game. If the Giants had worn alternate red jerseys for every game in 1986, they still would have been 14-2 and SB champs.

I don't think the NFL cares - they just want alternate jerseys to sell.
During the radio broadcast, they said more than once

the last time the Giants wore their white at home against Dallas was 1985. I don't know how to look that up, but I don't think that is correct. I would have guessed a little later, although it was really just a Parcells era thing. It wasn't so much a Giants superstition as much as a Dallas superstition. Supposedly, Dallas did not like wearing their blue jerseys.

I kind of like the Giants current uniforms, but wouldn't mind this as the regular road uniform. The Giants have, by far, the nicest color rush uniforms with this. I also like the current helmet color with the color rush. The Giants can't do a full throwback design to the dark blue helmet because the league doesn't want players switching helmets for no reason.

to try and get a win. It is what others have said. Superstitions. Back in the day Dallas did not like wearing their home unis even when at home.

Giants also wore white in the season opener vs the Cardinals in 2000. This was the game where a crazy lightning storm hit Giants stadium.

It doesn't matter which jersey the Giants wear this season because they stink. If they wore the blues, they still would've lost.
