Ex-NFL players accused of sexual harassment?

Shocking!

They may have to suspend the whole league.
The environment at NFL Network must be odd.

They take a fox news approach by making sure their female anchors are smokeshows doing TV in cocktail dresses.
So to be clear this is one accuser naming all these people?

Her filing states she received pictures, texts, and videos.

So this seems like it would be something relatively easy to prove or disprove. Saying you have physical proof boxes you into a corner.

Very true.

These are testosterone driven athletes working in a locker room atmosphere...anybody actually surprised about this?
I'm not picking a side
kelsto811 : 12/12/2017 12:53 am : link
But it's hard to believe all of these things happened in one workplace without reciprocation of any kind...or am I just being naive? Obviously no one here knows for sure.

I've never seen anything like this in any professional workplace I've been in...clearly it happens but is it really this prevalent?

but the thing that gets me is this starts with wrongful termination which makes you think if she still had her job she never would have said anything.

I think it would be more impactful if these things didnt have that "revenge" notion to them.

I also would expect that if this many people were involved there has to be so much more to have happend it cant just be her. This will get ulgy
Bummer that

Right...because that strategy is limited to one network. Maybe surf a bit more, every channel (news and all sports networks) employ that tactic. Your bias is showing...

Maybe nobody told those guys that that type of behavior was frowned upon...
If what she says is true in her complaint,
Andy in Halifax : 12/12/2017 7:40 am : link
she was subjected to some really vile stuff. Though her complaint against Sapp made me feel guilty for chuckling a tad.

Quote:
During Plaintiff’s employment, the NFL forced Plaintiff to work in the men’s restroom. Former on-air talent on NFL Network, Warren Sapp, came into the restroom while Plaintiff was preparing clothes, and urinated in front of her. Plaintiff screamed at him to get out, but Mr. Sapp laughed and told Plaintiff, “Sorry mama, but your office shouldn’t be our shitter.” Plaintiff complained to the NFL, but nothing was done until Plaintiff told the NFL she would work in the hallway. Mr. Sapp also gave Plaintiff sex toys as a Christmas gifts three years in a row, showed Plaintiff nude pictures of numerous women he claimed to have slept with, and openly talked about his sex life in front of Plaintiff and other NFL employees, including supervisors

Looking at her and knowing when men generally think it's OK to start being skeevy, I'm thinking she was being playful and loving the attention then got fired for someone 21 years her junior and decided to turn and attack. Were the exchanges gross? sure but we don't know what she was saying or doing to have THIS many dudes be skeevy to her. She could have put an end to it but my guess here is that she enjoyed it and encouraged it until she got fired.

I know what you're getting at. The way a woman responds to these situations can often make men feel more permissive around them. One thing leads to another, and the next thing you know it's just a pervasive clubhouse attitude.

Having said that, her response may not have been because she enjoyed it. She may have been uncomfortable with things but used humor to hide how she felt. A lot of people do this.

Are throwing stones at hollywood and news and sports because of this recent wave of exposed issues, as if regular Joes aren’t prone to the same behavior. I know many guys like this. Who among us hasn’t heard how some of us talk in all male company about the opposite sex. Just be real. It’s a problem that goes from the dirt poor all the way on up. I don’t know many women who don’t have their own story.

As for stories I may have myself, that’s tough. I’m reading some of these stories posed here and have similar ones of my own, but I did not consider myself harassed.... even if I wasn’t welcoming of the advances
I'm sure it's everywhere
Bill L : 12/12/2017 11:12 am : link
but it's more noticeable in entertainment, sports, and politics because often the people are more noticeable. Familiarity = news and water-cooler talk.

I think that it is more than that too. All three of those professions have entitlement cultures, at least for the "name" folks. For much of their lives, people tell them "yes" to every little thing, no matter how bizarre or even odious it is. They learn that with celebrity, simple rules don't often apply. They learn that they have power and then they learn to use and exploit it. It happens in the real world but I'm not sure it's as endemic or inherent in the life.

Mark Shapiro is basically responsible for the careers of Jim Rome, Steven A Smith, and the rise of yelling faces and hot takes as TV content in sports media. No surprise things go to hell wherever he slithers. He's a purveyor of trash media.
