David Shaw

Chris684 : 12/12/2017 3:19 pm
is the perfect fit for the next head coach of the New York Giants.

Experience:

Played or coached under Dennis Green, Bill Walsh, Jon Gruden, Brian Billick and Jim Harbaugh. Played WR but has coached QBs, RBs and TEs at various points in his career.

Credentials:

73-20 overall record as Stanford HC
4-2 in Bowl games
3x PAC-12 champs
4x PAC-12 coach of the year

Personality wise, from everything you read about the guy he is as stable and professional as they come. The right man for to oversee a change in direction and deal with the NY media.

As an added bonus, we bring in a bright offensive mind to help pick our next franchise QB. As a double added bonus it happens to be a guy who has spent the last few seasons game-planning against the top 2 guys in the draft.

Shaw is the right man for the job.
Problem is..

He's got to want the job to be the ideal candidate and I don't think he's leaving Stanford.
I was out in that area once
moespree : 12/12/2017 3:27 pm : link
And I would never blame anyone for not wanting to leave there. If I could I'd move there. He's not coming here.
ITs up to Mara

To make him an offer he can’t refuse. I hear those kinds of offers originated in New York.
too bad he doesn't want it.

Fun to discuss, but no.
I don’t want to coach the Giants: Star college coach - ( New Window )
Far and away my top choice!

In addition to the credentials you mentioned....

- His father was a career NFL coach
- He has nine years of coaching experience in the NFL with Philly, Oakland and Baltimore
- As the OC at Stanford his teams set all-time school records for scoring
- He was OC and then HC for Andrew Luck at Stanford
- He broke Pop Warner's all-time record for victories
- And last, but not least, he knows a thing or two about the 2 PAC 12 QBs who should be at the top of the draft this year. Not to mention, I love his draft commentary on NFLN each and every year!

Give me Shaw at HC with either DeCosta or Wolf at GM and I'll be very happy for our future!
eh

Steelers OL coach, former Titans head coach. Long time left guard in the Nle FL.

Also Chris Morgan as his OC?

Falcons OL coach, great job former seattle OL coach. Also did great at that.

Then, with those two you would add a the older shanny or a norv Turner type as a consultant or qb coach to help integrate pass and play action.
Shaw my #1 Choice

But I think he will stay at Stanford for as long as He likes.

That headline is extremely misleading. He didn't say he "doesn't want to coach the Giants", he says he is not interested in leaving Stanford at this time. That could be because he has a bowl game coming up and doesn't want his players thinking he has one foot out the door?

I'm not saying he wants to coach the Giants, or that the Giants are interested in him, but I wouldn't read anything into his quote. It literally means nothing.
Dante Scarnecchia is another tough OL

Name of the sort we need in some capacity.

He's not coming. He's been pretty consistent over a period of years about wanting to stay in college football. I like the idea too, BTW.

Agree about Petersen. Great coach who could do very well in the pros.

As for Shaw, make him say no. Put out a big offer and see how much he really likes Stanford. The Giants can't afford to screw this hire up. And let's be honest, paying a coach 6 mill per year vs 10/11 is a drop in the bucket for the Giants.
F that.

We'll get him a new wife, bigger and better than ever.

New York Football Giants!
Hire David Shaw

let him pick the GM.
Fuck it, hire David Shaw, lose Accorsi, let him choose the next GM knowing he is the head coach.
