NFT: Rick and Morty

Jerz44 : 12/12/2017 10:21 pm
Can someone explain this show to me?

It's become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon. People love it. I usually like animated shows (probably watched every episode of Futurama at least 5 times) but I watched two episodes and found it to be pretty annoying and unfunny.

What am I missing?
A sense of humor?

Lol. Seriously, I guess it is just taste. I love the show. I think it is hyterical.
Love the show

Mainly because it's unique and funny.
I want to like it.

Did you guys find it funny from episode 1 or does it take a few episodes to get into it?

Is actually pretty damn smart

Very funny...
Stick with it.
Season One gets good in the second half

Season 2 is amazing. Just finished this season...depravity and savageness abound.
Keep watching

If you get to the Mr. Meeseeks episode (episode 5) and dont like it then you can say its not for you. That was the episode that hooked me. Also dont forget there is a post credits scene in every episode besides the pilot
Eli is spot on

I thought it was solid, but not great until Mr. Meeseeks. I jumped on the bandwagon then.

May be one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand it...

you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance.

The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons.

I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them.

I did not start watching the episodes in order - just watching season 1 episodes at random. Confusing as heck and not sure how to take it.

Then, I caught on to the story line and found it hilarious. It is an absolutely great series.
