although I have to decide between big ben coming off 500 yards last week playing new england and rodgers against carolina. Any one have any thoughts on that?
As Packers doctor Pat McKenzie and other experts evaluate the scan, the decision was described as a "risk/reward" decision. The bone isn't fully healed -- and there was no chance it was going to be after two months. That was the expectation. Typically, 80-percent healed is healthy enough to be on the field. And Rodgers chose a surgical procedure involving two plates and 13 screws as an aggressive way of accelerating healing and protecting his throwing shoulder. It was a success.
And yet there are still loud and protective voices who wonder if it's worth putting him on the field to potentially injure himself again for a small chance at a great reward. Those voices are weighing in with caution because putting him at risk might not be worth it.
aside this is still newsworthy. He's the best player in the league and is coming back to a team that still has a fighting chance at a playoff spot. And if they make the playoffs, his return with Wentz's departure shakes up the entire conference.
However, he is not exactly a spring chicken. Opportunities can be fleeting in the NFL or in sports overall.
If you have a chance to put your best guy on the field with a chance to make a run, you have to do it. As it stands now, McCarthy and Rodgers have 1 title to show for their efforts. Some would argue it would be a disappointment if that number doesnt increase.
I think I read that it's only about ~85% healed - so it's definitely risky. That thing can become toothpick-like if you break it a couple times (we saw it with Romo)
Then again - GB has to win out to have a shot here and if he's been medically cleared, you've got to play him.
they can get 10 wins and there's only 2 teams in the NFC with 10+ wins so i'd say they have a decent shot. Shit, the Rams aren't even a lock at this point especially if they lose this weekend.
I get not wanting to break the collarbone again but Romo retired because of his back. All reports prior to his retirement were back related. If Rodgers breaks his collarbone again he's got the next 7/8 months to let it heal.

I would second that, seems a little early.
