Football outsiders Check these stats out. You can look at them by year. I set it 2015(Eli's best recent year) but you can change the year. Interesting stuff to say the least. 2015 QB stats - ( New Window )
Is in a QB's dream. Best player at WR. Great weapon again at RB. Constantly a good to great defense. OL properly built and has become one of the better ones in the league.
Maybe that's why? Rivers led the league in INT's last year. His fall happens if he has the same disfunction of a HC and GM.
He was 11th ranked in 20014, not far off his 8th place in his career year 2011.
Keep going 2015 ..18th 2016 22nd 2017 26th so 8th in 2011 to 26 2017...pretty steep no? Big Ben and Phillip Rivers have not had similar declines.
But look at Ben and Rivers teams. Big Ben has Antonio, Bell, and a top OL. Rivers has Gordon, Allen, and a good OL (remember Fluker was cut). We need to stop looking at Eli in a vacuum. Show me the great QB that was on a pathetic team. Also spare me the making players better comments, you can only make people better when they are ok to begin with.

I think you are placing too much value in this single stat. In 2015, Eli is bookended by Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan, do they suck too? Over 4,000 yards, 35 TD's and 14 INT's is a good year, and doing it without an OL and running game ranked 20th in the league.

Yes he was middle of the road that. I understand why want to look at his best year in the last 5. Big Ben has AB..well OBJ helped Eli in 2015 no? Statistically speaking the more data you look at, the more accurate the hypothesis. this stat is a new advanced metric. I would expect most to scoff at it.
When I watch Eli, I do not have confidence anymore. He used to play his best at the end of games, in the biggest he was at his best. He made BIG TIME throws under pressure when it counted the most. He no longer does that. I used to expect magic. Now I expect a turnover. That's subjective on my part.
When I graph his stats, I can draw a line and it shows a steep, mostly linear decline. I like advanced metric because they take a lot of stats and combine them. If you are honest with yourself, you stretching to find reasons to say Eli is still playing well. You blame all of his bad play on outside factors(Bad OL, lack of running game) and give no credit to outside factors(OBJ) for his good play. He did win a SB without a running game no?
Eli decline deniers are emotionally attached. I find this understandable and maybe even somewhat noble. However, one you remove all emotion and look at all the data, not little bits you can make some very likely assumptions.
Eli has been declining.
He is much more likely to get worse rather than better.
An Eli led Giants team is very unlikely to ever score more than 30 points again.
His play in not worth his salary by a large margin in a salary cap league.
Eli will be 37 next year
When I look at all of that I conclude it is time to move on.
The only reasonable argument I can make for keeping him is by Eli taking a large pay cut to allow the team to surround him with a more ideal surrounding cast that would mask his declining efficiency. They have paid him 185 million and he has made a tone of endorsement playing in NY, this would not be unreasonable if he truly wants to win in his declining years.
Not saying he hasn't declined but that's about the same time the Oline really turned to crap.
He was 11th ranked in 20014, not far off his 8th place in his career year 2011.

Reread the stuff from those days about how awful Diehl was. Eli elevated the play of those around him before and no longer does.
Right.
