NGT: I still think the Eagles are the favorites in the NFC

nyjuggernaut2 : 12/13/2017 2:59 pm
I wouldn't feel this way if they had lost on Sunday to the Rams. However, after that win they will almost certainly finish with a first round bye, and most likely the top seed. They have a pretty easy schedule left. Road game against our Giants this weekend, and then home the last two to Oakland and Dallas. I think they at worst they go 2-1, finish 13-3, and hold the tie-breaker over Minnesota.

Despite losing Wentz, they still have the one of the best rushing attacks in football, are solid up front on both sides of the ball, and a pretty good defense. This week most talking heads have been writing them off now that Wentz is down, but I'm not so sure about that (which scares the hell out of me to say).

Still can't believe the freaking Rams didn't win last weekend, they had the game in their hands.
I don’t

I think a couple of teams are going to start hitting their stride and gain momentum into January. Seattle and Green Bay in particular have the QBs who can get hot and carry a team.

Philly may still wind up with the #1 seed but I’m not sure how much it will mean if one of those teams comes to town. If it’s Green Bay than you know Rodgers is in playoff form otherwise they won’t be there.
They're pretty much a lock to get HFA

through the playoffs, but I think there are a couple of teams that could knock them off. It would be sweet to see them lose a playoff game at home!

Nick Foles sucks (maybe not as bad as Geno Smith). They are not a lock at all for HFA, IMO.

The Eagles..

are not going to win the SB without Wentz.

They'll be lucky to win a playoff game.
I agree OP

Let's not act like Nick Foles is some garbage quarterback. At the end of the day, he's a Pro Bowl QB who can take care of the ball. The Eagles are good all-around. Sure, Wentz was in the MVP race, but it's not a significant enough drop-off to completely nullify the season.

Either way, I could truly care less because I don't like the Eagles. I will say though, Rodgers possibly coming back to the Packers intrigues me.
the issue they are going to have....
BillKo : 12/13/2017 3:25 pm : link
is having a less mobile QB with a weaker arm.

Foles floats the ball. Wentz thew fastballs.

I think they'll struggle offensively, but they have a run game to lean on, plus their defense.

I said weeks ago the way to beat Philly was to shut down their run, and attack their defense.

Teams will be staking the box tempting Foles to throw, and beat them.

Foles throws a better deep ball though. Obviously, there will be a drop off. How much is the question.
Rams blew it

They had some help from the refs along the way though. That taunting for example was ridiculous. Eagles had many blatant holds not called. I actually felt better about them not winning the SB during the game and that was with Wentz.

WillVAB : 12/13/2017 3:43 pm : link
And I don’t think they would’ve went to the SB with Wentz.

QBs don’t just moonwalk to the SB their first time in the playoffs. Especially this year with what looks like a loaded NFC with a lot of QBs with playoff experience.

Foles throws a better deep ball? Have you seen some of Wentz's throws over the last eight games?

Foles is a huge drop off. Otherwise, he'd still be starting for an NFL team somewhere, IMO.

They're not losing to us, and I doubt they lose to Oakland, who is almost as bad. That gives them HFA.
they've beaten two teams
bc4life : 12/13/2017 5:39 pm : link
with over .500 records. they lost to one (Seattle) and just beat the 2nd one (Rams) in a very close game. Giants almost beat them. They're a good team but the playoffs is a totally different animal, where they'll be playing all good teams.
Not with Foles
BillT : 12/13/2017 6:55 pm : link
Come on. He can win a regular season game but in the playoffs! Not happening. Wentz was a huge part of their success and Foles can't do anything he could do.
Thing is they have a good running game
Simms11 : 12/13/2017 9:08 pm : link
and a solid defense. Those are critical to getting a ring. I think Foles will be good enough for them to at least get to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

At this point Foles is not a Pro Bowl QB, I believe they can get to the 2nd round of the playoffs, but...still ...no...SB!!!!!
I think the Vikings are the

They'll..

likely have a bye so they will get to the second round by default.

Wilson has never carried the Seahawks in the playoffs.

Not once.
