we have a dog walker come 2 times a week for our dog as we both work long hours. I have gotten into the habit of tipping them $3 per walk ($20 for half hour walk.) Never know if its necessary but i've done it the whole time so can't really stop now. They're great so i dont mind
Zero, zero, zero and zero. I don't see the need to tip any of those people. They are simply doing the job that they are paid to do (and the UPS guy probably makes more than I do). My customers don't tip me.
I'll tip the mailman but I have no idea why we do it. Same with the garbage men. They are doing their job and make good money for it while building their pension.

Will tip the daycare lady $150 (we have 2 kids with her) and mailman $20. Garbage company can take a hike. Twice this year they forgot to make my pickup, and each time I called they scolded me like I was in the wrong.
Great.. my son starts in January, as if it's not expensive enough already
I don't know about centers, but we do home daycare that's substantially cheaper and less people. Our lady will be flexible on pickup and drop off as long as you don't abuse it (although she gets you back with unexpected closings and forcing early pickups around her schedule). With such a small group, I've always felt a nice tip would lead to a better attitude towards my kids and flexibility for my wife and I.

It’s the worst. I get it, it’s a hard job and it’s your kid, but my God is it ridiculously expensive. We have 2 caregivers in her class but she moved from the 1s to the 2s in October so I get to pay all 4 a tip.
gift certificates for dinner for two. Mailman got nothing, as the long time mailman retired, and we have a different one every couple of weeks. Garbagemen $100, to split among the crew - maybe the best 100 I spent all year,
When it comes to the sanitation workers, I always tip them Â
$50/each. It is worth it to me. I've seen some residences where if the shit is too heavy/bulky/nasty that it sometimes is bypassed until the following week or when the guys get around to it (usually being told by a supervisor to pick the shit up). In my case, I could stack bodies at the curb with toxic waste oozing out of their orifices and the guys will gladly compact that shit. Periodically during the dog-days of summer, I'll bring out some ice cold drinks for them which they always profusely thank me for.
I have an 11 month yr old. I honestly didn't think about tipping. I didn't know that was standard. There are 4 adults in the room, but it's not the same people all the time. It's probably about 9 different people I see with consistency so not sure what to do

Wish we had NJ-type service in CA. Garbage comes once a week, recycling every other week. Waste management can shove it.
them anything. I work at a pharmacy delivering people's medication. While i appreciate people tipping me, i don't begrudge the people that don't tip me anything.
I'm sure most of these workers feel the same way. theyre getting paid doing their job. anything extra they"ll be happy with

So do you tip at a waiter at a restaurant or the pizza delivery guy? They are also doing a job they are paid to do

Restaurant servers get paid less than minimum wage and the gratuity system is effectively baked into their pay scale - that is a horrible analogy.
but I'm not tipping the postal delivery person. They get paid a fair wage and have decent benefits. I'll also drop a $20 in the tip jar at my favorite sandwich shop.

Of course I tip waiters, but thats different. On one hand i wish restaurants would just pay their waitstaff a proper wage and remove the tipping concept, but on the other hand i do like having the ability to stiff a server if they give shitty service.
I never get pizza delivered. Do you tip your local bank teller? Or the person running the cash register at your grocery store?

I absolutely tip daycare workers and my daughter's before and after school care workers - unlike teachers, they don't have benefits or pensions pay is lousy and they change my son's explosive diahhrea diapers. My wife and I give each other very modest chrismukkah gifts and spend more on the workers (usually visa gift cards)
I've worked as a waiter in college and always felt tipping would be appreciated by those peoples whose professions rely on services rendered. Especially those people whose wages are tied into receiving tips from their customers.
For those professionals that are salaried and get benefits from their workplaces, I just don't see it as essential to tip them.
Although if someone goes out of the way to help, I definitely appreciate it and tip them accordingly.

That's why your mailbox is full of feces. Cheap and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
$50 to my business mailman
$100 to my business UPS guy (comes every single day)
