great question. Too often people ask for rankings of the palyers against each other, as if it is in a vacuum. Systems, coaching staffs and rosters play a big role in the best QB for your team. BUT, looking at these guys as a whole against recent HIGH QB draft picks is interesting. If the group falls short of either of those two it may be time to think a bit more about a slight trade down.
And it will be strictly off my college grades, as you requested. I am still working on grading these QBs...but
I had Goff pretty close to elite. Went a little lower but still a grade that could warrant a top 10 pick considering he is a QB.
My initial thought is I will have Rosen right there with the two of them and possibly Mayfield.
Allen I will have in the round 2/3 area, Darnold is a wild card. I havent been impressed by him pretty much all season and I think he won't have a 1st round grade on my sheet.
So without knowing my end grades for this year, I would unofficially rank them coming out:
Summary: Fourth year senior that graduated from Texas Tech early and was able to transfer to California for a graduate season. He earned Honorable Mention All Pac 12 honors in 2017, replacing last year’s top overall pick Jared Goff. Webb took advantage of his opportunity and displayed an NFL ability. His size and easy throwing motion can get you excited, but he has a ways to go in terms of progression and learning. Webb is a couple years away and will have to spend a lot of time correcting elements such as a footwork, lower body mechanics, and reading a defense, among other things. Possible starter down the road, but more likely a backup.
*Webb is a hot name with some of the people I get to talk with…and others think he won’t ever be a starter. Nobody denies the talent, but he has a ways to go. I’ve watched every game of his from 2016 and he does the same things week in and week out that bother me. He has to completely change his game and while I think it is possible, it’s simply unlikely.

but an interesting thought: What if Rosen is the only QB the Giants have a top 10 grade on?
I'm sure the Giants would love a franchise QB, but it's plausible that they won't feel that one is on the board if Cleveland takes Rosen.
I think that's totally possible. And that they end up taking Barkley or trading down.
Personally, I'm on the Rosen bandwagon. I think he's the guy to get. I'm hoping the Browns pull a Browns and take Mayfield or Darnold and leave Rosen for the Giants at 2.
RE: Sy, I thought you had Mayfield rated more highly than Rosen? Â
He just seems to have "it" more than the others. Although he doesn't always control it, I do love the fiery QBs. Simms was that way, always loved that about him.
RE: So where is Lamar Jackson in this conversation ? Â
He is heading in that direction. I am back and forth on both right now.
Is it reasonable to say that if Mayfield makes it to the championship game plays like he has all year against the nations best he goes to the top?
It would help, yes. Argument against him is that defense in the Big 12 is downright awful. If he goes out and dominates these defenses...you have to boost him.

Tough question to answer. In short:
1) Elevated level of play in tight situations
2) Accuracy
3) Addicted to football/winning/working
is he a Benkert of Benkert's Bakery in Centereach fame? :- ) Best jelly donuts ever when the originals owned it

He has said earlier that he doesn't view Lamar Jackson as an NFL QB. I agree with him on this. We part on our view of Darnold.
