has a track record for injuries.....Only way Giants should sign him is on a one year show me deal with incentives.....but there will be some idiot GM out there(hope it isn't ours), that overpays....
He was paid $1.1M/game. I advocated last year after he passed his physical that they should have released him so they did not have to pay the $8.8M salary. We certainly could have used that money to sign an OL that actually suits up on Sunday.
actually will have missed eight games with the back. He missed November 5th against the Rams, tried to play the following week, and has been done since.
Our OL worked best with him at RT, but he cannot stay healthy. OL is not an easy position to deal with injuries because it is dependent on your entire OL making the same reads regarding the defense.
Pugh should have been tried at LT. He is quick enough and wouldn't

I'd see if he'd take a 3 year 20 mill dollar contract with incentives. Under market value with built in security. If he can get better, he can leave. But I wouldn't slam the door on him.

A quality player, Schwartz's career likely would have gone much differently if he had been able to stay on the field, but he missed all of 2011 with a hip injury and played just 13 games in two seasons with the Giants.
Good player when healthy, which is never, yet causes you to tie up resources and plan him into the starting line-up.
A prove-it deal with incentives - the larger problem isn't $$$. He's right back into the starting line-up resuming his "will he, won't he" routine, ruining the chemistry so vital to OL play. Asking them to have 3 excellent starting G's ready to play without affecting things up front is unrealistic.
Staying on the field and grinding is what O'Hara & the boys were imploring 2 years ago. 3 days into camp and 3 guys were standing on the sideline.
Pugh likes to compare himself to Zeilter - they are similar players when healthy - but Zeitler stays at that level. Pugh has a couple games a year there. Buyer beware, planning this guy into your starting 5.
Reese or whoever was really in charge of our drafting was unable to
Draft quality OL men at any position in the draft. Look at # 1's, 2's, 3's on the Giants OL who are terrible from centers outwards to tackles. Reese ruined this team for years by his lack of understanding of the OL. Hopefully new GM or whoever will be in charge of rebuilding has a George Young approach to team building.

Me too. No worries, with a busy off-season, I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunity to disagree.
On the plus side he gives you tremendous flexibility: A grade guard, B grade RT and he can play LT. Negative: Back Injuries are tough. Shawn Andrews comes to mind and Brandon Mosley. If someone makes and outrageous offer you have to let him walk. This is brings to mind my main complaint about reese, he always moved up, lost picks and then failed with his low to mid picks and that led to little depth.
Pugh has never been worthy of the pick. While flexible amongst the positions and arguably the best we have on that Oline he has negates it very well with his lack of availabilty.
hit the road if somewhere in the marketplace they don't discount his injuries...

That and his arms were so short that he was unable to absorb the impact with his arms before the defender was into his body.
